One of the remaining jewels of the South Platte basin, this short but gorgeous canyon passes through a granite wonderland that will have you wondering if you've stumbled into California.
In early June of 2024, I met up with a crew of paddlers for what would be my 3rd trip through this amazing section, with Jack, Kyle, Lindsay, Tyler, Dave & Ivan all making the trip out. What followed was an absolute joy lap with a bunch of great paddler friends. With flows just about 400 cfs out of Cheesman Dam, we rallied through some great rapids and enjoyed the crisp cool water.
This section requires a 1.8 mile hike in, and a 0.8 mile hike out. Don't boat past the takeout as it is private property.
Big thanks to everyone for making it out on this one, it was a treat!
