Tamarillo and Passion Fruit are common and popular here in New Zealand. Good to see them readily available and cheap in the hills of South India
@samali1083 жыл бұрын
Yes they are really cheap for sure. 230 rupees is less about $3 (U.S.A). That would cost you at least $30 in a farmers' market here.

The one that the fruit vendors called as "Seetaphal" is actually a local variety of custard apple, they are either bright red or pinkish green when ripe. Extremely rich in antioxidants .. one variety (Soursop - Prickly Custard Apple) even has a considerable replacement probabilities/ alternative to chemo therapy in relation to cancer.. the one that is forest green in color and that has soft fleshy thorns on it.. Google search for "custard apple varieties in India."

Lots of idiots and untrained drivers on Indian roads. That guy was one of them. Best to avoid such people as many of them are rowdy or drunkards too, and things can escalate in India quickly. Stay safe. And a great vlog!
@JohannaNorth4 жыл бұрын
Ah yes, this is one of my biggest issues about driving in India! Even if I was a good driver, I'd never be able to trust the other driver was too. And I just don't have that 360° vision and quick enough reaction skills in the chaotic indian traffic 😅🤷♀️
@vaibhavjain31164 жыл бұрын
@@JohannaNorth True. Eventually if driving becomes a necessity then no choice but have to. Here driving is to react as it comes in front of you and follow your own way, overthinking is never helpful. My own thinking is that, i must drive safely; if someone honk or want way, i try to give way even if other person is wrong, no protest; never show gestures or look in such people's direction. Just mind my business. Eventually everything is controlled by God. And Indians literally place their trust in this. Hare Krishna!

Nice vlog, you should force your husband to take part in it more often though lol. Also its obvious that the fruit seller asked for way more that the original price but it shouldnt matter as long as your can afford it. Not like those 50-100 extra will make them rich enough to live a luxurious lifestyle and you would see them in a expensive restaurant the next day. Nor would it make you poor. That lady hardly sells any of them up there anyways. A fruit seller in city would make much more. PS the kid was cute, enthusiastic to make you try the passion fruit and quoted a cheaper price than what his mother told him for which he received a little flak there from the mother. Good on you for not bargaining with them!
@JohannaNorth4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I'm definitely trying to get the hubby more on the camera too ☺️ he's more natural than me actually, but is just more of a private person so it takes a bit of getting used to 😁 And the little boy and the lady were so nice and helpful that I couldn't have imagined haggling! They even let us taste so many things before buying anything ❤️🙏 I do avoid scammers and those who only try to charge me more for being a foreigner, but I never try to get the cheapest price. I'm willing to pay for something's worth and if people are nice 😊

Grim Sheaper for your info these villagers are quite honest in their prices. They do not scam like the city/town vendors. they make a honest living. In my opinion they paid far to less than they would pay in the city. Try standing in the sun by the road hoping a car stops by. Its difficult. I wonder if they ever make profit Rs 1000 a day. Trust me, I have traversed the length and breadth of India, and its in these remote locations that I give without bargaining. It would be a sin to do so. Peace.
