Then they come up with some story that requires me to give my credit card number. Then I ask them are you from Karachi or Lahore [or some Pakistani place] to get them upset, or ask them 'are you Pakistani, you sound like Pakistani'. So they are double confused, because I just told them two things 1. they are not american and their fake accent is not working 2. that they are Pakistani - which I know will hit their ego. then I watch their reaction. LOL the biggest crooks are from Delhi and the way they talk, they think they are too smart. that they can fool the other person. typical north Indian trait. The funny part is that some of them, after knowing that I am of Indian origin, shift to Hindi, and when I ask them to speak in English, very rudely say, 'You are Indian and you dont know HIndi. I was studying in German, and this north Indian couple I met started asking about each and everything in Hindi as if being Indian u will automatically knew this language. I replied to them in german that I am from kerala and surprisingly they don't know german, they r studying the language still because they want job here and it's so difficult for them. So switched to English and concluded the conversation quickly. They were like it's important for Indians to know Hindi and bla bla. I told them if u working in north India may be, nor I am working or living there, am living in Deutschland so respect the language of the place u r in. I knew hindi fluently but I only use if the situation demands. And them kinda insulted my language and culture by kinda of mocking and I don't find it necessary to speak in their language.

Then she started speaking hindi really faster than i could process. Genuinly trying to help her i replied in hindi saying "im not that great in hindi...." She just snatched that paper back and said in hindi " you are saying you dont know hindi already speaking hindi arent you ashamed or somethingg.." and walked away.. As a Singaporean with Nepali origin, when I visited Nepal and went to the Nepal gym. One Nepali gym trainer spoke to me in Nepali so I had to tell him if its ok if he can speak to me in English because I grew in Singapore where English is mostly spoken. It wasn't a racist incident but I'm glad that the Nepali gym trainer understood me and communicated me in English. India would be a great country if everyone was treated equal. People who are racial, anywhere in India and anywhere else, don't have a broad understanding of the world. They hang on to their only thing they know, how to speak in Hindi. Picking on a South Indian from Kerala? The most literate state and highest tax contributing state in India? Can you say "Jealousy"? The strength of a country is its diversity, tolerance, and respect to every religion and those who don't have a religion. That is democracy in action, not calling your self the largest democracy democracy. I love India.

This happens with Punjabi as well in Canada. You go to Brampton, they expect you to know Punjabi. I think it’s more to do with the area you are going to. In some areas where there are many South Indians, they assume you know their language. So you see its not just with Hindi but dominance of ethnicity in that area.

​@ Theproblem with Bengalis is that these days they have ZERO self respect or pride in their language, culture, identity. They are willing and eager to please Hindiwallahs. So they will quickly shift to speaking in Hindi even in Bengal when Hindi fellows boss around the Bengalis and demand that Bengalis speak in hindi. I have seen Bengalis fight on behalf of hindi fellows and demand that South Indians in South India speak in Hindi to the Hindi fellows. The pride that Bengalis had in their language, culture, movies all gone. They have become Hindiwallahs. In 20 years time, Bengali would have been marginalized in BEngal and most of Bengal would be Hindi speaking. Already Bengali cinema, literature and TV channels have come down. They all consume and follow hindi now. Bengali is in decline in India. Odiya already is on the way of getting extinct as Odiyas are even bigger slaves of hindi.

It’s sad, this is a reality, I’m not an Indian, but I have many Indians in my team, both north and South Indians, we have a great bonding as a team, but unfortunately I have many North Indians who openly tell me not to appoint any South Indian to be their account manager! Every human is pure in nature, but they get indoctrinated over a period of time, thanks to the rubbish media outlets who focus on negativity and echoing the voices of your political bigots, also your Bollywood movies culture, that’s the most toxic, it devalues and objectifies woman and pushes a subliminal narrative on showing one class in higher than others, be it a religion or cast!
