Well, for me, it's awful that SK failed to qualify to the Olympics, which is very disappointing. But considering what KFA was trying to appoint Hwang, this loss against Indonesia at least has a meaning about saving korean football.

Im usually for a humiliating failure if it means for a regime change but honestly, knowing the KFA and their close ties, I don't think missing out on a world cup would be enough for a change

This loss is shocking but surely it had to happen. We had : - one prepared team with a young squad that participated in the senior Asian Cup (they now the intenstity to make), and played together since a long time, a coach with an interesting football project based upon high pressure, and quick high speed attacks. - an unprepared team with a squad who lost its best players due to the unpreparation of the KFA to convince the European clubs to let players play. Hwang was absolutely right to say that the cycle has not to be made upon the Asian Games alone, but a longer project. However the overall quality of the U23 KNT squad is real because actually the Indonesian team was the best squad and the korean one is B or C squad quality. And too be frank, the Indonesia squad still lacks exprience and quality as they had so many chances to kill the game. Hwang did many mistakes (Lee Yeongjun entrance was really justified as this player was too tired and maybe injured), however his plans failed as the KNT lost control of the midfield by allowing Indonesia to press very high, and really lost the battle of the wings. Even Hwang Jaewon was really in trouble. What a pity for such good players like Um Jisung, Kang Seongjin, Jeong Sangbin, Hong Sangyoun, Hwang Jaewon.

Btw Jason, Moon Dog thinks Hwang has done his best during the U23 asian cup. I think it would be better for you, albert, and Moon Dog to discuss this failure in the u23 asian cup for contents. Plus, he's kinda against ppl wanting renard to be the next coach. I hope ya consider to do more debates about korean football with Moon Dog.

I think MoonDog could be wrong... As a French-Korean man, I had doubts about his tactical approaches but he seems fine anyway. As a French our coaches insist about the importance of the midfields and have traditions about great strong defensive midfielders (Fernandez, Tigana, Giresse, Deschamps, Dessailly, Petit, Viera, Makelele, Kante, Pogba...). This is the current issue and problem of the KNT now, how to make a strong midfield without any great midfielders (I think Park Jinseop is the best option). Like Bento did for insisting that the KNT have a medical team, Renard could advise (the long french tradition or organisation and bureaucracy) how the KFA could be more professionnal.
