There's a reason why armies push Young ( 18 to 39 ) people to fight , because they are fit enough to do , unlike the old people that will make you lose a war in under 60 min , just look what's happening in Ukraine when their young soldier died and only old people are fighting , they are getting their butt kicked

Could the church also be another factor? I've dealt with South korean churches here in my country (India), and I gotta say, I do NOT agree with how they do things. They want people to spend ALLLL their time in church. Like, right after you get outta work, you are encouraged to goto church and spend time there and do church work. They have something or the other happening in church from Tue to Sun, 6 days a week. And their sunday programs last for around 5-6 hours. Literally ALL day. How tf people gonna find time to do the baby making dance if that's the case?

Bro honestly I have mad respect for these folks. They love their homeland, their relatives, friends, and neighbors so much and understand the global climate well enough to know that they may very well be a deciding factor in a ground war for the Korean peninsula. Like obviously I doubt they will be effective in a combat role but in logistics and planning as well as some light duty delivery and high level engineering jobs I really think they have the drive experience and expertise to make a huge impact with a small contribution of time and experience.

Actually, the total opposite would happen in the long term. (In the short term it may provide subsidies and incentives which FYI is a failed strategy). More taxes and longer working hours. Older people in workforce also means less productivity which means less economic output. Either the country accepts that or relaxes labor laws even more to remain competitive. Also, the only thing keeping demographics stable in USA is immigration, birthrate is already lower than replacement. If you really want to create that environment just stop immigration.

In a digitally networked battlefield, seniors who have had a lifelong experience dealing with different types of people should be able to give real-time commands to younger soldiers and war-robots on the frontlines. Both Japan and South Korea who have aging populations and advanced industries can start fielding fighting teams of young tech-savvy soldiers assisted by war robots. This human+robot army will be backed up by veterans who have executive command and support experience from their previous jobs. The support roles of logistics, communications, intelligence, medical, police, and training can all be handled by properly trained civilian seniors, veteran sergeants, and retired officers. This type of army organization may become the norm for countries with aging demographics and wealthy economies.

One important thing to know though is that the reason for this is due to HEAVY state policies to reduce birthrates over decades to just 1 child... Then the bias towards boys meant there's something like 109 men for every 100 women... So there simply aren't enough women for the number of men in the country. That combined with the fact that now a lot of Korean women have had enough of a rigid patriarchal society that many are refusing to have relationships means Koreas population decline is steadily growing. It's very much a symptom of culture and gender bias so that needs addressing before the birthrate is likely to change.

that is horrifically bleak no elders or seniors should be in a position of any type of combat at their old age. Women, Children, and the Elderly should be OFF limits when it comes to mandatory military service

Robots could be a solution too. Autonomous weapons that do not require to either sleep or drink, that can wait for North Korea to dare cross the DMZ

Tbh what I've seen from ukraine is if you're in a trench your mobility barely matters and most don't dare to take a clear look and shoot when enemies are close. So these elderly men might just be equally useful sometimes

Sorry to bother you Mr Harris but if possible can you please make a video about Eli cohen as well as the complex and delicate Syrian politics in the 1960s . Now I'm only asking for you to do this because I'm curious about the Jewish James Bond 😅

I’d back a well-fed, healthy 50 year old over basically a poorly fed slave, especially when you factor in differences in equipment, logistics etc etc. SK has a smaller army but a lot of force multipliers that NK lacks (plus the support of the US). This doesn’t make demographic collapse less concerning long-term, but talking about a pure numbers mismatch misses a lot in this specific comparison.

Hmm i dont know, my grandparents were POORER than me, but both pairs had minimum 6 children. My parents and their siblings had maximum 3 children. Then my sister and i currently in our 30s , no children, not even married. So im not sure more money = more children. I live in an emerging economy. At least in my country, it feels like having fewer kids are a wider societal trend as my country modernizes. I honestly have no clue how my grandparents managed to feed EIGHT KIDS (on my dad's side), being farmers /petty traders themselves. Every generation faces their own set of challenges. BUT intuitively i feel that today any little bit of assistance that would help potential parents is a good thing towards the increasing the birth rate.

In the US, we have senior drill every year during deer hunting season. Marksmanship, field craft, navigation, map reading, tracking, trash talking, beer drinking and setting up ambushes. I'm putting my money on the Americans. 😅 USA USA USA!!

I love the idea though. Keeps senior citizens healthy and active, give them some comradely. Sure, they won't be as effective as a younger generation, but God have mercy on the man who's going to square off against an army of grump seniors.

Actually the army in NK is starving. Their conditions don’t seem like a proper military force. The shocking number that they display to the world are decoration. The ones who can actually fight in a war are not even 1/3 of their forces. What’s scary about them is their equipment and their nukes
