It's not him who does the english voice-over, I'm pretty sure, its just a guy he has hired/works with. He does know english though that's nothing special, pretty much every young person nowadays studies english, no matter where they're from. By the way, his main channel (The Люди) is usually a couple months ahead and has other videos that dont make it to this channel, as all the translation/editing/voicing takes a long time, so check it out if you want more content from this guy, though all of the videos are in russian and I dont think they have English subtitles. In fact, here's the original South Korea video kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKHdk5-QmMqAesk, its a year old at this point.

As a Korean, I think quite a lot of sources are from China, not Korea. For example, 8:40 isn't a Korean subway, and 29:24 they look like Chinese. You have to know that there are lots of foreign people who don't have Korean citizenship, though they are leaving in Korea. And also, Chinese characters(Hanzi, Hanja, Kanji) aren't a Korean writing system(We can/still use a bit of Hanja, but it is not the official writing system. The only official writing system in Korea is "Hangul", which is totally different from Chinese oriented characters). Some sources from the video are written or shown in Chinese characters, which means they might come from China, not Korea.(14:26) Your video is still entertaining tho. I just hope you make videos with more accuracy.

@InkWavve
@InkWavve 3 жыл бұрын
@@kpy2003 There were a few minor errors and mistranslations. In terms of the general stuff, it over emphasized a few aspects of Korean society that made it seem more futuristic and almost sci-fi than it actually is. It also makes it sound like some relatively fringe practices or trends are way more mainstream than they actually are. For example, it's true most younger Korean men use skin care products like lotion and aftershave, but things like putting on eyeshadow is mostly just the celebrities (which is also true for most countries with developed mass media and not just a weird Korean thing). Same for the err nipple pasties. Also the part showing the Korean countryside is probably one of the nicer neighborhoods. It's still pretty common to see very rudimentary living conditions in the rural areas. In general, the video focuses a lot on the most advanced, most developed parts of Seoul, rather than the country as a whole. Also the fact that he's mostly comparing it to Russia is a factor. A lot of the stuff that amazed him might actually be pretty mundane stuff for, let's say, an American visitor. Etc etc But overall, I'd say it's a very high quality production and a fair introduction to Korean society, both the light and dark side of it.
@InkWavve
@InkWavve 3 жыл бұрын
@@kuntsitisilwe6069 The video touches on some of the main reasons, like the crushing sense of competition 24/7 since young age. Constantly being evaluated and judged for everything ranging from your looks to your salary. Working 13 hours a day 6-7 days a week with your boss breathing down your neck. But I guess if you're saying "Ur country has everything" that means you haven't really watched the video anyway. Things like suicide and depression are not so easy and simple issues. Just because you have material wealth doesn't mean you're happy. There have been plenty of very successful, wealthy, and/or famous people who were depressed or even committed suicide. Not to be rude, but "isn't what you have enough?" is an extremely uninformed and insensitive thing to say to or about someone struggling with depression. I can't think of a worse thing to say to someone who's depressed and considering suicide. I sincerely hope you don't seriously offend or hurt someone who is already struggling with that kind of viewpoint.

Ppl need quality time with family and friends. Ppl need also to clean their homes, wash their clothes etc and do grocery shopping too and make/eat home cooked meals. (Is the best to eat fresh food, home cooked meals) AND most of all, ppl need free time to relax, so that ppl are very productive during their working hours. (Here 8 hours a day/5 days a week) In free time (no work at al at the job/at home) ppl can clear themselves from all the stress, but NOT with alcohol like the Korean ppl like to do. Alcohol is poison for a human body, it's stress for a human body. Not reloading themselves with alcohol at all. Stress (physical and metal stress) is very bad for health, also bad for a good night sleep (= reloading yourselves 100%) AND bad for the productivity at work. I believe, that the ppl whom work 8 hours a day/5 days a week and eating fresh home cooked meals, cleaning their homes themselves = exercise (not a hired cleaning lady) are in way better physical and mental state, way more productive at work than the ppl working 12 hours a day/6 days a week! 8 hours/5 days group will do way more and do a better job at work in a week (are 100% reloaded in free time) than the second group!

I'm a half-Korean half American/Canadian who grew up in Canada and America. I've been getting more into Korean culture the past years, from kpop to kdramas. There are some aspects of Korea that I greatly admire, especially the infrastructure. The public transport, waste system, security and internet are very impressive. The social discipline is also very neat. Though I think now that I'm too "American" to really fit in if I were to move there. From my style to my attitude, I've become quite the American spirit. Even though genetically I look a lot more Korean than white, I'm sure any Korean could tell I'm an American just from a small glance. The brutal schooling would have driven me mad, but honestly, even the beef prices alone are too brutal for me. I traveled to Korea before and really liked it, but despite by Korean heritage as far as living I very much love the US and Canada. It's easy to complain about ones own culture, but when I look out at other cultures it reminds me of how much of a home my home country is. Korea isn't directly better or worse than the US, it's just different, and it's too different for me.

The prices of houses in the capital area were always high and increasing, but they skyrocketted over the past 5 years. Not only that, the cost of groceries also increased a lot over the pandemic. For my opinion, the birth rate is the biggest problem, and in fact, is lower than any other OECD countries, and the total population will decrease sooner or later when this trend continues(which will happen most likely).

I am a Korean. Great job, this document. There are both sides. Still people and culture are very unique in the good sense and the bad. Two little secrets: 1. Koreans were the last hunter-gatherers in the temperate zone of the whole Eurasia. Winter is too cold and long and the summer monsoon just pours. Seoul temp sometimes go down to minus 20 degree C. 900 milimeter precipitation just for three months in the summer. Thus they could not grow staple food until they got special kind of rice, barley, wheat. They started grain agriculture as late as 3500 years ago which is 7000 thousand years late compared with the middle east. I believe there is still a barbarian in Korean soul with two faces: unruly and noble, cruel and generous, mob-like and intuitive, ....Koerans are an enigma. Though i am a korean i have sometimes ambivalent feelings fir my folks. 2. From Beijing to Seoul it is less than a hour's flight. Still Koreans have a full set of traditinal life style. . .. verbal language, unique alphabet, housing-building style, clothinhg style, food. . .They have been masters of identiry game. The bad thing about this is that they can be very much xenophobic and ethnocentric. I hope the bad, negative aspects of this fascinatng people grow weaker and weaker leaving the good, positive traits ever stronger. . .They have been opening up for the last 150 years. Before that they had been obsessed with defining and protecting their identity against China and the horrifyng invaders from the Eurasian Steppe Belt.

I wouldn't dismiss the documentary as trash, but I see where you're coming from. And one thing is for sure, it was made by a Russian from the Russian people's perspective, as could be seen by his comments about the hilarious gasoline prices and/or the big mac price. I've seen worse when it comes to foreigners trying to give their objective opinions about S.Korea, but reading the comments here it seems the big majority of his viewers believe every word he says, well that too is a by-product of the world we live in

You must remember that Korea was the second poorest country in the world after the war. They pretty much lost everything!!! For any country to develop at this rate and become this successful in such a short amount of time, there are going to be many sacrifices, like working long hours and studying harder than anyone. That's what it took for Koreans to come back strong and keep their heads above the water and eventually be proud of their achievements. Took blood, sweat and tears to get there. Rather you like Korea or not, one must at least acknowledge their achievements in matter of few decays. Not all Koreans work such long hours, but Koreans in general are workaholics because it's so ingrained in their culture. Work hard and play harder. All cultures have pros and cons. As a female, I would love to live in Korea where I feel so much safer. No guns, very little violent crimes, people don't steal even if you leave all your things at a Cafe and go to the bathroom and everything is still there, untouched. I love your videos, but there's something need to be corrected. A molestation video among 8:29 , is actually from China not Korea. You can see yellow Chinese character subtitles in the video. As a Korean, I don't want the image of Korea to deteriorate with the wrong video. Thanks😊

South Korea is such a beautiful country. Koreans are tech savvy and the country is so interesting. The kids cafes are top notch. They also have cat, dog, raccoon, and any other animal cafes. I miss this country so much! It is also very safe and I could let my young teenager travel around the country without worry.

It seems brutal tho the amount of pressure it isn't good kids aren't built for that although I would rather live there than north Korea but it's sad I can see why some people that escaped the north went back plus they make fun of them in school the pressure is insane yet they basically didn't care the person went back and made it seem like they were probably a spy smh not everyone coming from North Korea can withstand living like that even if it's somehow unified one day if Kim is removed from power or dies I don't see how people would adapt so easily to that kinda of society the north is in the stone ages it's fucked up. If they do collapse I think Japan should take over to help them adjust to a different world.

@@violetsrayreikishop2 What the hell is that comment, "If they do collapse I think Japan should take over to help them adjust to a different world", aka the country that already committed several war crimes and genocides on Korean soil? Please inform yourself before spouting such nonsense... Should the two countries be willing to reunify, the only solution that would work would be embracing a "1 country, 2 systems" system, keeping the Kim family in power and the North isolated from the South until living standards and wages are somewhat similar, and bringing them closer gradually. No doubt that procedure would take decades, but it's the only feasible way

@@zhurongonmars6256 Hmm, but last I checked, their ( North Korea's ) GDP per capita today is basically same as what it was in the 80s. I wonder when they are going to get rich. South Korea on the other hand, rather than talking about the future has taken their GDP per capita today to 15 times what it was, in 1980.

Moreover, century-old bullied practices of Capitalist Imperialist Western Sanctions over other nations throughout the whole wide world, (including in N.
