I was born in Venezuela and I moved out in 2017 at 20 years old. It was absolute madness back then and it got even worse. I could talk about so many things but keeping it simple about delinquency in specific, every single person I knew (family, friends, coworkers) was a victim of some sort of delinquency at some point, especially robbery, my parents and brother were robbed multiple times, my mom was even kidnapped once and only thanks to God she came out alive of that nightmare, we were “middle class” I guess, we lived in a condo, my parents were professionals but we weren’t wealthy by any means, everyone gets robbed, no exceptions. My country is beautiful but you don’t live there, you survive. The sound of motorcycles was terrifying every time I was out of my house because I know it was very likely some robber “working” in that moment. I was so lucky to get out and so was my direct family, don’t believe the bull shit from people trying to defend this tyranny, ANYTHING that the Chavez government touches is turned to shit, they only know how to destroy and blame the US for every misfortune, the government is also known to be heavily involved with black magic, witchcraft and all that stuff, truly disturbing and terrifying. Thanks for this video and your hard work, God bless.

I remember in 2008 at college in Mississippi in the US, there were a few Venezuelans and one guy who everyone liked named Jorge who was from Venezuela suddenly dropped this awesome editorial in the University paper about life in Venezuela. He chose his words carefully but if you read between the lines you could see the words were screaming to tell people about the darkness coming from Chavez. It's funny when you think of someone one way like I thought of Jorge. I thought he was just a partier, a person just concerned with fun, but after reading his article I was really impressed and for the first time felt like I had the inside track of the damage being done in Venezuela

Dear Rott, I´d love to agree with you on Venezuela being prosperous and progressive before Chavez, but the truth is we had a democracy that ran on two alternating parties which were both rotten to the core and that over decades had slowly reversed the flourishing trend Venezuela had in Latin America during the 50s and 60s. Venezuela managed to stay afloat thanks to the broad shoulders of our oil, which sustained almost our entire economy while being merciless bled by corrupt politicians. If Venezuela had really been progressive and prosperous we would be the Abu Dabi of America today, Venezuela is like a billionaire that you find absurdly living like a descending middle class guy (before Chavez) and then turned full blown homeless junkie (after Chavez) . The Chavez curse would have had no power over Venezuelans if our previous leaders had used wisely the unlimited resources this country had and still has. Chavez was the monstrous offspring of two very corrupt political parties, and the result of a desperate act by Venezuelans, tired of decades of broken promises, never ending corruption scandals and a slowly decaying economy. The apocalyptic fate of those who seek messiahs. All things said, although Venezuela was not progressive or prosperous before Chavez, it still was one of the most extraordinary places you could visit in your life, and probably one of the friendliest and most open nationality you could ever get to know. Before Chavez we were a filthy rich corrupt battered country but a resilient country as well, with an open smart brotherly humorous fun-loving culture, after Chavez all that is left are ruins and hopeless souls.

So well put together! My wife is from Venezuela and I finally got her here to the United States one and a half years ago. The situation in Venezuela is horrible. We help her family as much as possible, but it continues to get harder and harder for them each month. Inflation is crazy, this covid situation has made everything worse (if that's even possible), gasoline shortages, food shortages, poor medical care and corruption as always. I pray for the people of Venezuela. Makes me realize just how lucky we are in the United States. Seeing this really puts everything into perspective. The little things we complain about on a daily basis don't even come close to the daily struggles these people endure day in and day out. Dios te bendiga!🇻🇪

Man, as a Venezuelan who lived that misery, I can tell you this was very accurate. It is hard to find ppl report on the realities and getting the small hard details correct. Thank you for showing this and explaining it a way that can be understood by people from the outside that are not clear on what happens there. My only contrarian opinion is that Chavez did not help the poor intentionally. And yes, at one point it seemed things were getting better for the poor cus there was so much money to throw around. However, all that money was wasted in corruption and handouts. Infrestrutcture was never done, maintenance to the Oil rigs and refinary was never done. Basic things like water and electrical supply was never maintenanced. I want to make clear Chavez did not help the people even when it looked like it. He just gave handouts to ppl to get in power and make it look like the rich ppl and small business owners were the bad ones etc... When chavez died, it was coincidential that the price of oil came down, and it was impossible then to hold the farse longer as they did not have funds to spend. And what you have left ? A country whose economy and production is completely destroyed. And the only thing we learned to depend on, oil, we cannot even extract efficiently as all refineries are fucked with no maintenance. |Look at out coasts, we are spilling the oil into nature. It dont even matter, thought, as all that oil money is stolen by the Regime. Peace

@@stfu19999 Good observation. In reality, few people make the minimum wage as companies would not have workers if they paid that. So people get paid a little more. Others get food cheaper through the government making huge lines. I mean, people still find a way to live. And given the local currency is so unstable, the dollar is what is used, and it creates somewhat of an economy. But if you are lucky enough to pay for your daily food, that's all you got. If you are sick, if you have an emergency or anything, you are fucked. Thanks for your input.

I'm Venezuelan and yes there are many places that are dangerous but there are other that doesn't. The problem is that the government has destroyed all of our resources and that has slowly degraded every business in the country only their own people (government) are the ones who benefits, all this leads to all the crimes he mentions because there isn't enough jobs or opportunities to have a future (like other countries). My country is beautiful, there's always two sides, you can find the bad but also the good. I hope one day we can show that to other people because we are very kind and generous with a lot of beautiful places to visit.🇻🇪 ✌
