179 DEAD! Can you imagine lining up coffins for all those people?? It would stretch as far as the eye can see. And each one has a family tragedy attached to it. Just horrible! That is why air disasters get so much attention even though they are very rare. Sadly, i believe the plane lost all power and they needed to put it down fast. Remember, these objects-planes can literally fall from the sky with no thrust. They needed to glide it down. And there are difficult to maneuver when you have zero power. The pilots did the best they could have done. Some say...why didn't they manually put the landing gear down. They have very few seconds to think. They start finding out soon that everything they try to use is not working. Alarms going off! Everything failing simultaneously!!. They are dropping fast, they need to stop the plane from going in a tailspin which is not recoverable. All in just a few minutes while holding the "steering wheel" which also needs a lot of effort to keep the plane steady. It is easy to judge from the comfort of your home on your computer. These poor pilots did a fantastic job. Sadly luck was not on their side. Sometimes everything is stacked up against you and beyond your control especially at 20,000 feet in the air.

didn't use flaps either, as far as i could tell, but the one engine we can see is in reverse thrust mode. it may have lost hydraulics, but there is still a manual lever to drop the gear. this was the second attempt to land. My ill-informed speculation, they lost hydraulics and were rushed to landing prior to manual gear deployment. I very much doubt it was pilot error, as the plane probably would have sustained more damage on landing than it did, had the pilot thought the gear was down when it was not. that was a soft landing, and it was right down the middle of the runway, until there was no runway left.

For those who questioning why there are a concrete wall and the plane crash on it. There is a pilot on youtube already answer this queston: this airport is not designed for big plane like boeing 737 to land, because it is designed for smaller plane, so the runway is also shorter, the airport design has no issue at all. What troubled for experienced pilot is that why that pilot choose to force land on this airport because from the exterior and information gather, that boeing 737 can definitely choose another suitable airport to land. So the pilot on youtube theorize either this pilot has made a huge mistake, or this there are poisoning gas in the aircraft, and they have no choice but to land immediately.

The fact that the captain, while in a communicable state, only declared "Mayday" without providing even a brief account of the aircraft's current condition likely stems from an unspoken manual within Jeju Air aimed at avoiding responsibility for accidents. From the perspective of countries that prioritize individual accountability and records, such a communication appears highly unreasonable. As I always say, it is the backward mindset of many Koreans, questioning why they should share their income through taxes for the benefit of society, that leads to support for Yoon and his faction, ultimately confronting us with such grim realities. Look at all the disasters-such as Itaewon, the Sewol Ferry tragedy, and others. These are the tragic outcomes of a society where overarching systems and basic human rights have collapsed, where parachuted officials and survival-of-the-fittest logic dictate operations. Even though Korea's tax rates are low compared to advanced countries, half of the population remains selfishly backward in their mindset. As a result, when a parasitic conservative party takes power, the country is inevitably faced with appalling realities. And yet, some Koreans forget these lessons so quickly. This is why, no matter how much a democratic government elevates Korea's status, the country falls back into the mire every four years. The eight years of Kim Dae-jung and Roh Moo-hyun, though hard-won, at least brought some progress to Korea. During Moon Jae-in's administration, Korea performed an economic miracle even as the entire world suffered deficits. That was perhaps the time when I saw hope for Korea. It is imperative to impeach that lunatic Yoon as soon as possible, uproot the remnants of those opposing the course of history, and ensure the Democratic Party takes power. Only then can Korea hope to survive amidst these challenging global circumstances.
