In the scene with Tolkien's dad, they showed that cupid Cartman isn't real, it's just Carman's imagination, so I assume everything that happened in the end was actually Cartman too. Tho since they never revealed that I get the sense that this cupid thing might be something they run with throughout the season until an episode where it is explicitly revealed to have been Cartman the whole time.

Nah, I think everything is very simple. We were shown at the beginning that Cupid is Cartman, and so it is in the future. It sucks that you have to build your own theories, but it seems to me that there are two options further - either everything that happens at school is a metaphor of "rumors", "information transmission" or a bee really flew into the school and it stings everyone, creating panic and with all this, in parallel people started attacking Kyle because stupid information finally got into their heads.

They consistently nail the absurdity in America and are able to put out content while it’s still topical. I love South Park but I didn't enjoy this episode. They've always been absurd but the absurdity in this episode didn't flow very well. I also miss the witty banter between the characters. Hope episode two gets better.

If you look at the credits, it contains another joke about Jews being in charge of Hollywood. Matt Stone, the half-Jewish co-creator, is listed as the creator and executive producer while Trey Parker, who isn't Jewish, is listed as Matt's assistant despite Matt and Trey both being co-creators and exec producers. Just another subtle joke inserted where you wouldn't expect it.
