Asia, you're spot on about South Park typically airing new episodes ever so shortly after the topic of the episode makes public news. It's a wonder sometimes how they're able to come up with such clever comedy in such a short period of time.

Yeah they continue to be pretty unique in the world of animated series in that the software they use combined with the relative simplicity of everything allows them to put episodes together very quickly. Most other shows take weeks to put an episode together. South Park can have an episode ready within a week of a major news event happening.

@tomgraham36122 жыл бұрын
34:43 The show concept was, "Medicinal Fried Chicken." Cartman learns that the KFC in South Park has been sold and turned into a Medicinal Marijuana dispensary, news of which gets Stan's dad (Randy Marsh) interested in getting some pot, which he can't, because he doesn't have a marijuana card from a doctor. Then Cartman learns every KFC in Colorado has become a dispensary. So the A-plot is, Cartman becomes an underground KFC dealer, and the B-plot is, Randy does whatever it takes to get a marijuana card even though he's healthy.

They take 6 days to create an episode start to finish, this is how they keep so up to date with current events, for example, the 2008 election episode didn’t get handed to Comedy Central until just minutes before it was supposed to air, this was because Trey Parker was waiting on the election results that night to know which way the episode needed to go. I also would HIGHLY recommend the “6 days to air” documentary which shows how they do it and includes some great behind the scenes footage of them doing the voices.

Harland Sanders of Corbin, Kentucky, was an innkeeper in the 1930s who would cook marvelous Southern dishes including fried chicken for his guests. His motel was reviewed by one of the most trusted sources of the time, a man whom the traveling public has forgotten, a man who essentially sold out, and endorsed a line of baking products and mixes. His name was Duncan Hines. He loved Sanders' chicken. In 1935, Governor Ruby Laffoon gave Sanders the title, "Kentucky Colonel," which is why we call him Colonel Sanders. When the new highways were being built in the 1950s, Sanders knew he'd lose his business, so he decided to expand instead. He took his chicken pressure-fryer on the road, gave out samples, and sold franchises --- all he wanted was a nickel a chicken. He taught the new owners everything, including hiring and training their crews. He kept his "11 herbs and spices" recipe a secret, and sold the mix in bulk to the owners. But Sanders could not reproduce all the intricacies of his amazing Southern cooking for fast-food. Privately, he hated KFC gravy, said it tasted like wallpaper paste. He wasn't a fan of his own extra-crispy chicken, preferring his tasty Original Recipe.

Ike, Kyle's little brother is adopted from Canada. The only thing better than South Park's take on Tiger Woods is Ron White's, "Dicking Around With Tiger Woods". It's hilarious. Colorado literally voted to remove fast food restaurants from low income areas because they claimed that having these restaurants in these areas was the cause of higher than normal obesity rates in low income areas. Ironically, it was at the same time that they also voted in medical marijuana. I wish you saw how Randy got his medical marijuana card.

The South Park creators write each episode in a week. They start a new one after the last one plays so they’re always about what is happening in that specific time. So yea Tiger Woods, banning Catcher in the Rye, taking fast food out of poor neighborhoods, legalizing weed, and Facebook were all big when those episodes came out. The humor is graphic and gross a lot of the time. But they are low key satirical geniuses.

I don't know if you've ever read 'Catcher In The Rye' guys, but the reason it's considered obscene is that Holden uses the words 'bastard' and 'goddamn' dozens if not hundreds of times. It was first published in serial form in 1944 and in book form in 1951, so that was a lot of swearing for that era. I've always felt it was a mistake to use Catcher to introduce people to J. D. Salinger's work. If you want the read the best one, try 'Franny and Zooey.'

The Facebook episode was from when Facebook was getting popular with the Mainstream. The KFC episode was highlighting the fact that certain fast food companies, like KFC, market extremely unhealthy food to low-income communities, as well as tying in the advent of Medical Cannabis becoming Legal, replacing KFC, and providing a lead-up to the Scarface Parody. i highly recommend viewers watch these episodes in context.
