I do remember in elementary school that all the other kids thought the kids with lice didn’t bathe or clean their hair good enough, but it turns out that the people with the cleanest and straighter hair are more susceptible to lice because lice want to be in clean, straight hair so that they can traverse the scalp better and be able to lay their eggs in, because the more tangled and dirtier the hair the more likely lice and their eggs are gonna get tangled up in it and die.

It reminds me of the lice episode from Arthur, where nearly every kid in the school got head lice after trying on Muffy’s hat. The only exception was Buster because his hygiene was so poor, the lice found his fur to be uninhabitable. 😅

I'm a substitute teacher in California. Lice is still a thing. Just last year, I was subbing in a 1st grade. Without notice, the whole class gets called to go to the nurse, four at a time, to check for lice. Turns out three students had it. What gets me, is that the school and the teacher knew there were students in the class with lice, even before the nurse did her lice exam, and they didn't tell me until the end of the school day. I actually sat next to one of those students during readiing. How did the teacher and school know there were kids with lice in class? Because a few weeks earlier, one of the students gave lice to the teacher (and the teacher ended up giving it to her own kids). Apparently, the teacher had been talking with the administrators at the school and the parents of one of the kids (patient zero) about getting lice exams done. The teacher had a very good idea of the student with whom the lice had originated, but the parents of that child stalled getting a lice exam because they thought the school was singling them out because they were Mexican. Mind you, the teacher and 98% of the teachers, students, and administrators are all Mexican-American.

Dash, this will be a very long winded comment but I have been following your channel for the past year because I love South Park and although there are many other South Park reactors here on KZbin you’ve always been my most favorite one. You’re always so wholesome, you put all references South Park makes in the video for us and you always pause when you talk so you don’t miss stuff and we get to see the majority of your reaction. Might be wasting my time telling this story but someone might read it. When I was in primary school ages 5-11 I remember there was a fellow classmate that unfortunately was very poor and I remember on a couple of occasions I would see a few crawling around her hair, didn't help that she was ginger. However this episode always reminds me of her because one day when I was in class I remember looking at the back of her head and it looked like her hair was animated. Her head was absolutely riddled in them to the point that it looked like her hair was moving but it was actually lice. I think something must have happened because not long after that we had an assembly (assembly is when the whole school sits in the hall and various things happen there, usually the head teacher speaking to everyone) in there the teacher spoke about lice and that each student would have to see the school nurse and blah blah blah. Obviously nothing was said to the students but over the course of a couple days each class lined up and each student individually went in. The day after ours went in she didn't come back to school for several days. I don't know what happened, I'm guessing the school bought a product or something for her family or, I don't have any clue. What I do know is that she came back to school and I never saw lice in her hair again thereafter. Before that point though we had a few small outbreaks, thankfully I missed most of them but when I was unlucky I had to sit on the floor for an hour every day until either parent and combed all lice/nits out and couldn't find any more. The products they sold when I was a kid didn't really seem to do anything. They were just a waste of money. Luckily mine and my siblings hair was short, so it was quite easy to comb through and I think helped in the process of not getting them very often if at all.

When I was a kid they used to do lice checks at school. They called me out of the class after one of the checks and I was super nervous. For some crazy reason, I remember the preschool I was in at the time had us do a head check for lice. What’s funny is I remember the person checking was telling kids they would have to shave all their hair off if they found lice in their hair.

louse is just the singular form of lice lol. if you've got lice, you can reach into your hair and pull out a louse it's not like a separate word or anything
