3:38:39 - 3:40:16 This is the reason why these audio commentaries were removed from the DVD releases, because apparently WB were offended at how much Trey Parker and Matt Stone explicitly lambasted the 1997 Robert Zemeckis film “Contact”.

Mine was Tom's Rhinoplasty. I think it was in early 1999. I was ten. A couple of weeks prior, I was in Blockbuster with my dad and a friend who was spending the night. They had a few of the South Park VHS "Volumes" in the new releases section. They had 2 episodes per tape. He pointed that out to me and said "Have you seen that show? They say "Oh my God, they killed Kenny!" A few weeks later I was channel surfing in my bedroom late at night, and came across Tom's Rhinoplasty rerun on Comedy Central. Watched that. Rented the tape with Cartman Gets an Anal Probe and Volcano, and laughed my ass off. I was hooked on it. Watched every episode as they aired throughout my childhood, teen years and everything. South Park had a huge impact on my life, for sure.

I must've just started High School, and I remember hearing kids talking about this show that I had never heard of called South Park. I even asked someone about it and embarrassingly called it "West Side!" All I knew of it was that it had a direction in the title. I then finally caught some clips of it and was absolutely dumbfounded by the crappy cutout animation. THIS was what everyone was going nuts for? I then caught my first episode, Mecha-Streisand. I had no idea who Barbara Streisand was or why the writers had such a beef with her, but I was just fascinated with the rude and crude humour and the fact that one of the characters died in every episode. It's kind of strange when you think how far South Park has come.

They don't have patience or much to say about eps after season 1....and the fact those seasons have far more eps doesn't help...if you noticed they repeat themselves and have a lot of dead air in this commentary...they have talked about south park for years on tv radio in interviews since season one...its just not fuelling new or interesting for them to say the same things cause they didn't make the eps alone so if you want more commentary you would have to bring in like 8 other people which they don't have the time for since they make these commentaries during production of the show and the others are working on the series while they do these and there really isn't much to say that the eps don't say themselves...just watch them...that's their takes....also they only do commentary to get paid...you can tell they hate watching their own work after season one outside of the movies cause they feel they could do better years later....season one makes them proud cause they were green and it's iconic...everything after makes them sick...they got bored doing it once so they didn't do it again..4 minutes per ep is more than enough ....

Look up any interview with them shortly after she has passed and you can tell it’s hard for both of them to talk about her and respected the talent she gave to the show. Trey and Matt use dark comedy for many reasons and this here was them using dark humor as a way to cope.

Pretty sure in the season 5 commentaries they mention working on Good Times with Weapons so it seems like they were 3-4 years behind on the commentaries for a while but they eventually catch up around season 11 where they finally say that they’re doing the commentary for the DVD immediately after finishing the season.
