I had a post op infection that had spread into the bloodstream, so when I went to the outpatient clinic for a post op visit, I collapsed and almost passed out because the bacterial toxins were causing my blood pressure to crash, and I was going into shock. The doc called in the paramedics to take me down the road to the ER and told me I was going to be admitted to the hospital. I asked "Hospital? What is it?" and she said "The infection has gone systemic, and your blood pressure is dangerously low." Then I said "You were supposed to say 'It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now.'" She didn't get the "Airplane!" reference, but the paramedic did. With that kind of morbid sense of humor in the face of a life threatening medical emergency, I'm with Cartman on the "HIV positive" jokes.

My high school was so backwards the principal (who was a former football coach) brought up the biggest douche bag Kevin motherfucker I’ve ever met, who was a wealthy prep kid and quarterback of the football team, up to the front of an assembly when we were all juniors in 2012 to give a speech on bullying and his speech was literally and I’m not exaggerating, a 6 minutes speech about how bullying builds character and adversity is important for a developed society. This was the same principle who a year later in 2013 tried to cover up when this exact same football player and his two friends (who were all seniors) got a freshman girl drunk at homecoming and ran a train on her in the field house. I remember reading the local paper and the principal was urging the court systems to go lenient “on these boys” and to “consider their scholarships” 🤦🏻‍♂️

Thirdly, if you don't think that people shouldn't laugh at people having HIV (and by that logic I assume dying) you should go on a campaign to get a bunch of people on Twitter banned. Kyle was at least considerate about it. That's more than those savages on Twitter can say.

I actually agree with the flight attendant: these days, HIV is pretty much manageable if diagnosed early on, but some cancers are either super-low odds at survival from the get-go (say, pancreatic cancer), or so insidious that you don't become symptomatic until late in the game.
