When I was in highschool, there was a guy who was, as Stan puts it, “really, really super gay”. This guy would constantly harass me, feel my skin, and even whistled at me a few times. Any time I ever vented to somebody about how uncomfortable it made me, I would get called homophobic/intolerant/etc. i didn’t hate gay people, I specifically hated this one guy and the things he would do. I remember this episode because it summed up my thoughts on that situation perfectly. Tolerance and acceptance doesn’t extend to condoning bad behavior.
@davidnonya7359

tolerance and acceptance is a personal choice nobody can force anything on me! because bad behavior is relevant and has context! to christians and jews homosexuality or the marriage of it is bad behavior! but adults can do as they please! where we go wrong is forcing it on others! dont force your good or bad behaviour on others. as long as people consent and dont hurt eachother let them live

This story actually begins at s5e13 "Kenny Dies", which is a great episode, Emmy winning one, if I am not mistaking, but there was almost zero usual jokes and chuckles. Trey and Matt did quite good drama over there. Dash, if you reading this - you can remember how it ended from "Red Sleigh Down", when Kenny just came back out of nowhere. Whole season 6 was with Butters and Tweek playing 4th friend. And yes, since "Ladder to Heaven" Kenny and Cartman shared single body.

Thoughts on body positivity: As a fat person on a diet, i say that theres a BIG difference between fat acceptance and being a jerk about it. Wanting to be in shape is not fat-phobic, its a life choice. Being fat isn't a bad thing, its a life choice. Its easier for someone to become or stay fat, often to the point where it often feels like it isn't a choice even if for the vast majority of fat people it is. Both come with pros and cons and it's the business of the person themselves to deal with said pros and cons. When it comes to attraction, that's also only the business of the person who has their preferences. Likewise, its entirely up to any fashion company to use models of certain builds and a smart company is probably going to try to sell to all sizes.
@DanielRichards644
@DanielRichards644 Жыл бұрын
As someone that is 50-70 pounds overweight for my age/height, being fat is nothing to be proud of or celebrated and thats what the body positivity people are pushing, yeah sure don't attack someone because they are fat, but don't celebrate it either, thats feeding into peoples delusions just like the mentally ill dudes that get fake boobs and grow their hair out and call themselves a woman.
@Oleoay
@Oleoay Жыл бұрын
Throughout history, fat women were considered sexy because they were thought to be rich enough that they didn’t have to work. If you were thin, you were probably working in the fields. That’s one of the reasons why almost all Western classical art work depicts goddesses and royalty as full figured.
@khandragon7950
@khandragon7950 10 ай бұрын
"a smart company is probably going to try to sell to all sizes." Really though?? A Smart Company is going to sell an item in all the sizes that it is still the item it is trying to sell, maybe.. however each clothing item does NOT fit into all sizes as the item is meant to be.. let's follow with an example.. A sexy bathing suit fit for the smaller sizes looks as intended on them, but blow that up into some of the larger/est sizes and it looses a LOT of that sexy quality or even the ability to fit the body as it was meant to... this is not a bash at the bodies themselves (to each his own opinion on what bodies look appealing, that's a whole different discussion) but in the fact that not all items of clothing belong in all sizes, like you tried to state.. ;) A Smart Company might carry clothes for all sizes, but not every article of clothing IN all sizes... :)

I love how the lemmiwinks story basically feeds into what will become the Stick of Truth as the lemmiwinks ark has clear Inspirations with the Rankin and bass version of The Hobbit and later Return of the King. Which the episode was produced immediately after Return of the fellowship to The Two Towers so we know that Matt and Trey were on the Tolkien kick and then later on that outfit that Cartman where's in the fellowship episode is later used as his wizard outfit in Black Friday and the Stick of Truth( the latter of which has an opening cutscene in the animation style of rankin-bass)

Well, yes. Not like this of course - camps always be bad, yo - but you HAVE to be intolerant of antisemitism, Islamophobia, ableism, etc or it'll fester and morph into a hate movement, which keeps happening over and over and over. You need to be educated on an issue before making serious statements about it - even if you're of the group(s) in question - and there's always going to be nuances on the right way to handle intolerance, but at the end of the day, yes; you can and should be intolerant of intolerance.

South Park was ahead of its time, but I've also heard from a few people that stuff like this (tolerance seminar type stuff as a punishment for complaints) had, by the time of this episode, already started in few small areas of business. Especially once the lawsuits had happened. South Park tend to make fun of what they see going on in society at the time the episodes come out.

on the confusion about the Kenny+Cartman thing at the start of the episode.This explanation wont have any spoilers other than what this episode already spoiled for you(Kenny being dead and Cartman drinking his remains trapping his soul in Cartmans body). There was a full season long arc during which Kenny did not appear as they were tired of writing deaths for Kenny so they decided to just kill him off proper and use the hole in the cast left by Kenny being removed to explore characters like Butters and story avenues that opened by his absence. But after a while they(and their fans) missed Kenny so they slowly re-introduced him by having Cartman drink his cremated ashes trapping his soul in Cartmans body for multiple episodes until they eventually found a way to free his soul.

So glad you reacted to this one Dash. It’s hilarious and relevant! Kinda weird looking back on this one because with regard to their reservations to continuing the show Trey and Matt have recently commented about how the show is getting harder to do, because the extremes and satire they’d take things to are actually starting to show more in the actual world today. It’s getting much harder for them to take things to wilder places then society is already actually going! Crazy to think about! 🤔 🤯 Just a quick suggestion if you follow/chase this storyline; going forward, Bass to Mouth, as everyone has mentioned, is great episode to follow up on Lemiwinks! A Ladder to Heaven, going back is also awesome! You might actually go backward further to Kenny Dies s5e13 first, if you wanna pull that string, and was actually a very pivotal episode in the show at the time (I’ll explain later). And finally, Mr Slave is in several more roles. NONE maybe better then Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset episode (or there maybe. Personal preference I suppose.) the eps. South Park Is Gay and Follow That Egg are pretty epic too. Or if any other random episode you decide on, you KNOW, I’m here for! 👍

I'm gonna go watch it right now, but technically there is a much later episode in which lemmiwinks actually returns and does battle with his brother wikileaks (epsiode "Bass to Mouth") that is the true sequel.

At the 25th Anniversary South Park Concert at Red Rocks, they did the Lemmiwinks song and it was freaking hilarious! They even got Mr. Slave to come on and interject with his iconic "Jesus Christ" line over and over! If you get the chace, give it a watch.

@@christopherb501 I think it aged very well as we are in a place now where people are getting de-platformed, fired, cancelled etc. because they may have a different worldview from the majority. I mean now if you dare express concerns about the powerful Pharma companies or the war in Ukraine or even bachelor degree teachers talking to your 8 year old about their sexuality you could be targeted. We must have group think now.

Evaporation is an exotermic reaction. Evaporation happens when some molecules in a liquid get a lot of energy start moving especially fast. Finally, they bounce out of the liquid, carrying away that energy. The liquid has less energy now, so it cools down. This describes the kind of evaporation when the liquid stands still and just dries up on its own. When a liquid is heated and therefore evaporates, the reaction is also exotermic. It's just that the cooldown caused by the evaporation is overriden by the flow of heat, caused by the fire.

9:08 Being tolerate of everybody is actually a very bad idea. For the simple reason of bad people being included in everybody. You know, such as murderers and sex offenders. You wouldn’t also have to accept people that are directly opposite of each other. For example, everybody would have to accept and tolerate homosexuals and the people that would commit crimes against homosexual people simply because they are homosexual. Current laws would be erased to accept everybody, including those that drive drunk or have run over people in vehicles. Tolerance and acceptance are also very different and shouldn’t be used interchangeably like South Park does here.

Yes Dash, Matt and Trey are HUGE fans of Rankin/Bass version of The Hobbit and Return Of The King. You see this not only here but also in the follow-up lemmiwinks episode bass to mouth and in the opening animation of the Stick of Truth. And you know that Matt and Trey are huge fans of Tolkien given that they did an entire episode in this season known as The Return of the fellowship to The Two Towers which was a Lord of the Rings Centric episode( and the basis for Carmen's outfit in the subsequent Black Friday Trilogy as well as the Stick of Truth). I actually found out of the connection between lemmiwinks and rankin-bass when I watched the rational Ryan review on the 1977 version of The Hobbit. Great stuff as always Dash

i love (as a queer person ) how Mr/Mrs Garrison is portrayed (other than the trans jokes), especially in the later seasons Yes gay people can be assholes too, and sadly all the stereotypes (him being heavily closeted for most seasons and a creep) come from some problems in the community that, fun fact, all come from a place of years of harmful repression. But despite this Garrison learns to be himself and is still an asshole but just as much as 3/4ths of the characters in south park. And I know many queer people who also love his character. No trans teacher because of being trans will groom your children, but any teacher could and no teacher should act how Garrison does in this one should. Gay or not, trans or not, if a teacher actively does half of what Garrison does they should be fired without a doubt. but because some gay people act like this it doesn't mean we all do. Anyone in a minority and in a majority group can be an asshole and that's just how it is. This world will have you believe that all of these arguments are black and white but in reality, its multiple shades of grey, and south park has no problem showing all parts of communities with their good sides and bad sides. It also has no problem calling out parts of communities that are not okay. Kitty Monk does a lot of deep dives into characters/character arcs of characters and I recommend watching them (either on your own or for your audience) for learning so much about these characters that maybe newcomers to the show may not know, and it helps give insight on many characters.

yeah, a lot of people, especially conservatives take the completely wrong lesson from this episode. even in this comment section you have loads of people saying that this stuff is happening right now in schools which is just completely false and frankly you'd have to be completely brain dead to believe it is. the whole point is that every group has outliers but you shouldn't judge an entire group by the actions of a few individuals but bigots love to ignore that message from the episode and pretend all queer people are like garrison

Yes! Now I can die happy! About Kenny being inside Cartman: I see a lot of people recommending "Ladder to Heaven". I would recommend *against* doing that one next. The reason: There was a period around season 6 where they tried a more serialized format. A period where episodes introduced permanent changes, and built on them in the following episodes. I would highly recommend doing those episodes in chronological order. Otherwise, you will miss out on stuff. And if you then go back and do episodes from that time at random in the future, your experience/reaction will miss its potential of watching them in their place in time in this overarching story. It all really begins with the second-to-last episode of season 5 (S05E13 - "Kenny Dies") and goes through to the end of season 6, which you have already seen. (S06E17 - Red Sleigh Down). The Episode "Ladder to Heaven" is an important and big moment in this overarching story, but it is far from its beginning/origin. And yes, season 6 is absolutely amazing. One "all time great" South Park episode after the other. 💪
