Well, this might be the strangest South Park special release yet. Not necessarily because of its content, but because it was basically a stealth drop? There was a ton of confusion about when the new special, called Not Suitable for Children, was releasing, and it was actually never announced? I wouldn’t be surprised if this video is the first some of you are hearing about it. The special takes aim at a ton of current trends, but most particularly, influencers like Logan Paul who peddle unhealthy products to kids for their own financial gain.

I feel ya, I vaguely knew about prime existing but I didn't know kids really cared about it. I though it was like any other influencer merch, in that it might be popular in small cliques but not broader than that. It's really depressing that Logan Paul and KSI has actual influence over kids, if I may be the old man (still under 30) yelling at influensers they're both awful human beings.

Then like 12-13 years ago I started dating a girl that would reference it all the time so I started watching right from season 1 and instantly became obsessed with it and crushed thr whole series in about a month. For like 3 years I'd play it over and over when I was sleeping. Other then a few off years, it's the most consistantly funny show ever. Now my 12 YO nephew is getting into it. We get cracking up together and tell my sister/ his mom parts and now she's starting to watch. South Park, bringing families closer together.

The show is still just as funny as it was back then if not more so just in different ways. I feel like if you didn’t start watching the show from the beginning you don’t realize how much of an effect SP has had on if not the world then at the very least tv. Remember when cussing wasn’t allowed and they did the “shit/words of curse” episode and how big of a deal everyone made it and now you can’t go 5-10mins without hearing shit on tv lol

That episode you mentioned, I'm sure it was a record at the time of the amount of times the word was used, I may be muddling my memories but I know they did that with the movie! My current watch through of a couple of episodes before bed I'm early in season 7 and it is still fresh and honestly pure gold TV. I doubt I'll ever get tired of it! I think theres a fundemental difference between Prime and South Park surrounding the topic of "its aimed at kids," and that distinction is that South Park was deliberately NOT advertised towards children. Like listening to old imterviews on people making those arguments; their point is it's adult hunor made through the medium of animation, which he calles a child's entertainment medium. Animation was originally produced for adult audiences, and it was generations before it became associated purely for children. Animation is not age gated, and South Park being animated was never an attempt to draw in children. Animation is for everyone. Logan Paul and KSI actually hold rallies for children to promote their products. One of those products was also a crypto scam. So the difference feels very night an day. One was said it was aimed at chuldren because of a harmful stereotype towards animation as a medium, and the other actively seeks out children to tell them to buy their product while lying to them about it.

I think the important difference between South Park and Prime is that Prime is being marketed by influencers. Back in the 90s, there wasn't someone the kids looked up to and possibly trusted endorsing South Park. Kids could watch it anyways of course, but it was very clearly not meant for them. Prime specifically markets to kids, which is really predatory and extremely scummy.

I feel like there is a possibility for a Part 2 of this special, after Cartman, Butters, Tweek, and Clyde found out that there's a massive conspiracy of corporations and governments exploiting influencers to manipulate children and promote their products and/or agendas to them, they devise a plan on how to take down the company responsible for Cred. But after that, they realize that their work is far from done, as Cred is just one of those exploitative companies. Only time would tell if that's the case.

I think you also forgot to mention one big difference between Cred and South Park. Cred is fighting to get kids as their consumers. South Park never fought guard rails to keep the show from kids too young. They didn’t mind being moved later at night. I was so baffled by the lack of advertising as well - a friend who happened to be in NYC sent me photos of signs she saw, otherwise I may have never realized it was dropping - but after watching the special it made so much sense to me. Randy's teeny little weeny flopping about every time he was on screen had me in tears, and I was so happy to see Sharon take a really active role in proving her point to Randy. I'll be honest, I'm a little too out of the loop (and childless) to have known anything about Prime, but I see similar things being advertised to young people in my daily life. I work retail at a large cosmetics chain, and I can't tell you how many actual nine-year-olds come in asking for skincare meant for people three times their age, all because their favorite influencer recommended it. So even though I was sort of out of the loop on the kids' storyline, I still knew exactly what they were talking about. And I absolutely ordered one of the official Cred tumblers, because I am no better than those fourth graders. All in all, great special and great recap. Always look forward to hearing your thoughts!

I saw a sponsored add while watching a random video on KZbin on Thursday (so the 21st?) saying that it was streaming, and I immediately went over to PP+ and watched it. I hadn't heard a single word about it until then, and honestly I hadn't heard any new news about South Park since the Panderverse Special dropped.

This is the first time I've ever heard of Prime, so thanks a lot for this video, I wouldn't have understood the special without it (or at least not to the extend I will now). Not sure if I'm too old or this stuff isn't sold where I live, but anyway I'm glad that's how it is.

I don't think comparing South Park and prime is exactly fair. Because South Park is something since day one was never meant for children and has never targeted children with its advertising, however The Paul brothers have given seminars on how to advertise to children.

I use to have paramount+ for star trek and south park then after last special stopped it as no sign of anything new. Parents got it and visiting them for the holidays and mentioned new episode, so while they where doing other stuff I watched it, they kept walking in while randy was on screen 😂😂😂 I don't even attempt to explain

Honestly, the commentary surrounding how companies use influences as credibility for kids to get hooked on things using products like energy drinks as part of trends such as PRIME is really scary for how accurate it is, it reminds me of when the streamer Kai Cenat was apparently charged for inciting a riot in NYC all through a giveaway event.

When I was raising my younger son, I remember seeing a sixth grader who regularly wore a South Park T-shirt boarding the same school bus that my child took to school. This was during the early 2000s.

man I really liked this one. took so many nice and funny jabs but also very clever commentary on themes such as: peer pressure, life as a step parent/child, heinous corporate tactics to target children, OF hypocrisy, hell even domestic violence! imo south park is at its best when it doesn't "take a side" like we are used to in today's political landscape but just shoot in every direction and take no prisoners. all while telling a compelling story. lots of the jokes were very accurate which means they learned their lesson from the streaming wars special that suffered from old jokes that were rehashed. 4:05 this is a great moment. I interpret it as a (very fitting for the themes of the episode) big middle finger to careless parents who let their kids consume (be it a drink, tv show or social media) anything without context, which almost always has a bad influence on them. kids shouldn't watch south park, paul bros videos or OF content! it's the parents' responsibility to atleast explain to their kids that not every idea these forms of entertainment present, shall be taken seriously. 9:39 this was the best joke in the episode imo. perfect delivery! the only thing I didn't like is that once again only gratuitous male nudity is shown without a problem. while female nudity is only implied even when there has been a good opportunity to show it in an equally funny manner. I don't really care but equality yknow^^ why can a dick be played for laughs while... whatever, I'm just saying :D

I know this is about southpark, but i've heard some interesting things about the wanted dead game, in that the story makes little sense, and it seems like an older era game, i've heard it called the room of video games which is a really weird title XD

I also wasn’t aware of most of the controversy surrounding Prime, it's crazy. The whole argument against shows like South Park mostly hinges on thinking all cartoons are for kids, while being against something like Prime is much different and more understandable.

This Clyde story hit so hard for me with south park as the thing I wanted to watch. Back in middle school everyone started to get to watch MA shows and I wasn’t and south park was the one they talked about all the time and I was like Clyde trying to say yah this is what I liked but I was totally faking it. Such a weird way for the show to connect my self with it
