I recognize and worked with many of those men. I am both proud and humble to have been one of those 24 men of the initial South Pole construction crew. I was at the Pole from December 1,1956 until December 29, 1956. Obviously it's an Air Force propaganda film, but it's remarkably accurate.

Altho the film is dated 1957-1958 it actually late 1956 - early 1957.

On May 16th, 1944, my father manned the Navigator's station in C-47-A 43-15665, the serial number photographed on the tail of our first plane at ninety degrees N.

The International Geophysical Year should be celebrated as one of the most important years in human history - especially since it was the jumping off point for the Space Age.
