I like the old, rustic vibe the south shore line and Metra electric lines give off. I’m used to seeing the Acela, and modern trains running down the northeast corridor.

I didn't realise that the reconstruction involved the street to be dug up for the double tracked trains. I thought they shifted the alignment outside of town. I noticed there was still some form of road though

It looks like they bought up and demolished homes to widen the street for double tracking.

Hi, the Pantograph is dummy and is fitted so that the loco can clear ice that has formed on the Catenary wire - ahead of the passenger trains.

@nolantherrailfan5048: I think that locomotive is a dual mode designed to operate on the 1500 volt DC wires as well as switch back to diesel mode. Maybe electric freight operations is returning on the main line with diesel power being used on non-electric rails like Industrial Sidings.

​@@gp3829: I sure thought South Shore Freight was going to go Dual Mode just like New Jersey Transit with their passenger trains heading to Grand Central Terminal. I believe the switch over there occurs in either Elizabeth New Jersey or Secaucus Junction in New Jersey.

@@maas1208The Stadler FLIRT, KISS and SMILE platforms are all modular platforms with needs of every costumer. They first of all would have no problem with having high level boarding doors. They would probably just use the Super FLIRT platform as an basis.
