Thanks for the video. You are right, the South Shore is just shy of the 100th anniversary of through running from South Bend to Randolph St - steam pulled for the first few years but those through cars started June 2nd, 1912. Kensington Interlocking is already remote operated but it can also be controlled locally from the tower. Maintaining that local control raised the cost of the project. Only three trains each weekday serve 63rd St ... one inbound, two outbound.

This is an absolutely magnificent video. I saved it to my favorites and often watch it on a 55" Smart TV with surround sound a nice sub-woofer for those diesels. The track layout, tangle of wires, mix of passenger and freight traffic, and the general atmosphere are captured perfectly. Thanks!!

The track layout at 115th Street have been changed so much over the years...and those newer Signals look good. I'd imagine that "Mick" (the waving Tower Operator in the Kensington Tower) is long since retired! :) Great vids...glad Metra Police didn't bother you...but they are nice guys and gals and I respect them highly!

South Shore Freight is a company that operates the freight service over NICTD (South Shore Line) right-of-way. It took over the freight service from the South Shore something like 20 years ago. southshorefreight (dot) com :)

I had the fortune of riding. The ex North Shore Electroliners aka Libertuliners on The ex Philadelphia &Western now SEPTA,sNorristown High SpeedLine on revenue and excursions back in the day I was glad to see them in mudeums

Not enough passengers traveling south of Kensington into Indiana. That stop was a drop off stop for westbound trains and a pickup stop for eastbound train on SS.
