I had a blast at that ballpark. We went when they played our Rangers, it was a great series

I wouldn't say the city didn't care in 2005 the celebration was estimated to have hosted over 2.5million people
@TGBahr2 жыл бұрын
Appearently it was more important for the owner to have the park built with its entrance towards the highway than to provide fans with a skyline view.

Mlb has a rule where home plate must be facing East, not sure of the reason but I think it has something to do with sunlight,

It's pronounced Veck(Bill Veeck). The seats were not painted green, the blue ones were removed and replaced by newer green seats.

Ebbett's Field, Candlestick Park, Sportsman's Park, Crosley Field, Polo Grounds.... I guess all the great classy names are used up. They sure hit a home run with Guaranteed Rate Park! How about Prime Rate Park, Foreclosure Field, Sub-prime Stadium 😂

When you have a jewel like Wrigley Field, Low Interest Rate Field is just blah. It has a parking lot and not too crowded and fireworks. That's about it

I got to go there during its first season. I liked the ballpark then. In some cases, the changes have been good, but I like the original configuration the best. It's still the only big-league I have been in outside of Detroit.

I hope so. Public funding tends to be the move for future stadium projects.

Keep dreaming. Unfortunately the A’s are leaving for Vegas. Oh well. It was a good run for Oakland. The A’s have always been a team on the move. Vegas will be city #4 for them. Love the A’s in CA, but I doubt the $$$ is there for them.

Veeck is pronounce Vek. The stadium opened un 1991 with a capacity of 44,000. And the Sox wasn't always 2nd fiddle to the Cubs. They out drew the Cubs from 1950 to 1992. Also thr 2005 title had everybody in the Chicago area excited. Almost 4 million people were at the celebration in downtown Chicago. Only half of the Chicago area baseball fans like the Cubs I've been a fan of the Sox since 1972.

not a good seat outside of halfway up the baselines but still better than going to the tourist trap and Clark and Addison.
@stadiumsafari2 жыл бұрын
Ha. I got the tourist trap reference.🤣
@justinroark882 жыл бұрын
That tourist trap will remain open longer than the "insert-name-here Field" in the Southside, most likely.

Reinsdorf totally went against the recommendations of HOK, the architects. GRF is the result. Not bad, but could have been better. Much better.

Before it went “retro” the park reminded me of Kaufman Stadium in KC. As much I loved the Sox, they should have moved to Florida or Denver when they had a chance.
@keyshawnscott122 жыл бұрын
That would have been a disaster look at the rays and marlins the white Sox are a Chicago team
@stadiumsafari2 жыл бұрын
In understanding how big the Chicago market is, it would be awkward for them to only have one team. The Florida teams don't have the same reach.

It really should just be torn down snd rebuilt from scratch. One of the best ballparks opened just a year later in Baltimore and immediately made this place look outdated.

Reinsorf used his political connections to get a tax passed to fund his new stadium, then after the stadium was built and got bad reviews, the state spent millions of more tax dollars making renovations lmao.

A lot of strategies that owners do to get tax money is crying poor. I explain that in the "Why Stadiums Will Cost BILLIONS To Build By 2030" video.

Need to blow this place up and build a new stadium where they should of in the first place, on Roosevelt. Should have kept comiskey just like the crappy Cubs did with their dump.
