Greg, I was going to comment at the end of the project, but something came up. Do you have another SB? I thought the one you had about a year ago you put a QCGB (the tumbler style) on it. Is the other lathe out of service? Have you ever tried ZEP Areo Lube? It comes out the spray can as a liquid and then congeals into a grease. It's super stuff for chain and gear drives. Dave

I know this is old so I hope you'll still respond but do u have to be in back gear when threading?

Great set of vids. I have the same lathe (1945). I want to put these large dials on mine. Where did you get your dials? Angryyank Sacramento

If you're cutting an even number thread couldn't you just engage the feed anywhere? I don't have a threading dial on my lathe. I'm lovin' this. I have the same lathe and all the sounds are familiar to me. I'm a self-taught hobby machinist of many years but I learned several things about the SB Jr that I didn't know - like the two different 80t gears. I usually figure things out but it's nice to have a "class" with an actual instructor for my lathe. I do wish I had a quick change setup though.

No. You can hit any number or any line o. The threading dial, but you cannot engage anywhere on the screw, just those certain spots. The dial allows you to be sure the spindle is jndexed to the same spot on your leadscrew to allow you to align your thread cuts.

Gotcha. I'll go ahead and use the method shown by Nasedo375 using marks on the spindle, lead screw and saddle. I was just hoping to save time. I need to make a threading dial. Thanks
