As someone who works on security, stray animals are naturally attracted to human concentrations, specially the ones who we're pets on some point, and yes they are valuable in many ways, not only they are a companion but they provide security and sanitation by alerting about people movements to sentries, and eating plagues like rats and bugs, so always welcome them in kind, they want love and food and they work for it

I remembered when I was cycling through the balkans that everybody warned me the stray dogs would bite me. Turned out they were the sweetest dogs. Only domestic dogs sometimes chased and almost bit me.

healthy stray dogs is usually pretty calm about humans except for mating season. But that can be easily infectious with rabies which can be fatal for you.

It is common practice for people to feed or make stray animals here relatively healthy. They get dangerous in parts where they form packs and if you are scared of them. 2 close people i know got bitten in past 2 years by dogs, but that usually means they were starved or desperate.

It's basically what we'd do in Afghanistan, too. Lots of stray dogs would be all over the place. We had a small pack of stray dogs we eventually adopted onto our camp. They were great for morale, and we got to keep them healthy/safe from the harsh conditions outside.

@@Edario from what I gathered 70-87% of stray dogs in military bases were adopted or at least taken to the U.S. or other nations. The remaining were left behind as the U.S. evacuated way to quickly. Many were later exucuted by the Taliban.

My father had the same in Vietnam. The Village and school he and his Platoon protected had a ton of stray animals they looked after and had as companions. They were also an early warning when an attack by the NVA was coming. Extremely helpful. We stand with you, Ukraine. You will not be left alone if serious conflict erupts. Slava Ukraini!! Cats have amazing senses of smell and hearing. They may not bark, but when they hear something, they immediately swivel their heads to see WTH was that. Животное,это шанс почувствовать себя обычным человеком,у себя дома.Я помню своего пса "хромулю",шикарный пёс. Хромой-лап у него четыре,но пользуется тремя лапами,а когда бегает этот демон вообще как мотоцикл становится-пользуется передней и задней лапой по одному борту)))хотя он на самом деле вообще притворяется,четвертая лапа у него нормальная))))вечно голодный,вонючий и щасливый,и заряженный(он реально не спит,я не спал трое суток и он рядом со мною все время находился и ни разу даже не ложился спать),а ещё у нас была кльопа(Клеопатра)ох и не любила она офицеров и прапорщиков (это покровительница солдатского состава)только увидит она прапорщика и сразу рычит,лает,кусается,и прапорщик нам орет"убирайте эту псину,выгоните ее не то травану",а ещё как она всех собак строит(короче она альфа),а ещё собаки у нас собирались в группы и патрулировали часть(прикол в том что их нихто этому не учил,они просто собираются группами по четыре собаки и в четкое время по своим"часам" патрулировали по своему маршруту,и щенков сами этому обучали)
