I believe nobody will discriminate money. Probably he thought both woman will just eat and leave? But when the woman start to complaint what she felt that might start the whole thing? I understand what you saying. If the woman say "i want to enter your restaurant just to sit for a while", I believe the owner will not let them in, like you said if he was really discriminating against Chinese. Ton Pac ~ Yeah, being Canadian, I understand some French and knew what it meant. The Chinese travelers may be too loud in the restaurant due to their own culture back in their country but unfortunately failed to understand Japanese (very few people in China learn Japanese well). They likely know that Japanese have a high standard for manners but didn’t care. We’re going our first time next month from the Us and we definitely always have manners even at home and will keep them even higher when we visit as it should be. Drives me nuts when tourists misbehave in countries they visit or anywhere. Happens a lot when we visit Thailand which is a lot as my husband has family there, Chinese always cut lines in bathrooms! Always doing something hearing about the Thai news along with the Russian tourist which are equally as bad. No manners! Thing is it isn’t about where they come from or race, etc. they are just mostly bad tourists! No problem with ones who aren’t like that

I'm siding with the restaurant. Tourist sometimes can be incredibly rude and disgusting. I worked at a seafood restaurant and one time a table just threw all their crab shells on the ground. Instead of it the giant bucket in the middle of the table. When we asked them to stop they said that's what you get paid for. We cancelled their remaining food on order. We made them paid for what they had though 😉. This restaurant is too nice

@@msairs exactly disgusting! The mindset of "they get paid to do their job" never dismissed nasty behaviour. The restaurant has all the rights to kick out any customer who don't follow the rules. And the restaurant even let them finished their meal properly before refusing further service! No charge even! Some restaurant would have had charged them extra instead before kicking them out

@michael jenkins I have had many times where Japanese people have "backstabbed" me, have tried their best to tell me "that I don't belong there", told me I am idiot for trying to learn Japanese, people not following up on any contact, people "overreacting" to what should be something small, completely ignoring people, blocking people despite having what seemed to be a "nice conversation", people judging me without listening to anything I had to say, people getting mad at my complements, people telling me that I'm not a real American because I can speak a bit of Japanese, people telling me I can never understand Japan because I'm an American, people calling any Japanese that does something dumb as actually being a Korean pretending to be Japanese, most places won't rent out to foreigners, etc... I have seen a Japanese guy tell a suicidal cross-dresser that broadcast their suicide attempt on twitcast to do it in private so they didn't bother anyone. I've never been to Japan, but I have JLPT N2 by the way.

@michael jenkins blog.waseda-icc.jp/?p=3445 japantoday.com/category/entertainment/singer-hikaru-utada-opens-a-discussion-on-racism-on-japanese-twitter " MocheakeJune 11 09:32 am JST I want to see her chime in on the problem in Japan as I feel Japan is more racist than any country I have ever been. I have been told on the phone by real estate agents that a certain owner doesn't rent to blacks or to Filipinos or to Chinese and it was not isolated. I have been told I couldn't go to so-and-so place because I was not Japanese. It is widespread and entrenched. If the real estate bubble had not burst, it would be even worse now. A dead gaijin at the hands of police, or any Japanese for that matter, will not garner any real news coverage. The difference is they don't lynch people here but they throw roadblocks from all directions and the TV shows and news programs go right past it without reporting on any issues. In the U.S., people have been working on the problems for decades but in Japan, according to most Japanese, there is no problem: Avoid negative publicity and keep my head in the sand. We are the greatest and we don't have the problems that countries like America have. That comedian on TV said so and I know it's true! 20( +28 / -8 )"
