Van living is pretty common in the USA and Canada. But here in China, it's something relatively unheard of, and most likely frown upon as it will be construed as no different from being homeless. Kudos to the young couple for choosing a lifestyle that suits their aspiration. Wishing them the best and disregard those ignoramus hateful comments.

Even in the USA people living in rvs are considered homeless. We got a bunch of people living in rvs here in Oregon. The problem with them is they leave garbage all over and they park on the side of the road till a cop tells them they have to move then they drive down a block and wait another week for another cop. With that being said this couples rv looks nice . Most would just think they are travlers till they see the van multiple times for multiple months. With how expensive rent is I don't blame people. I do auto upholstery and make decent money but it's impossible to live here by yourself even with two paychecks it's tough. Last time I checked a studio apartment was going for 1400-1600 a month. And I'm in a small town and the studio is just one room with the kitchen and bedroom and living room connected.

Yes, the ancients always think houses as home, but modern people has different story, like house prices and mobility, although there are cheaper house, it tend to be far from center of the city, therefore it makes mobility is limited, modern and young generation find alternatives like living in a van

No matter what we do, right or wrong, we will find always people criticizing around. The best thing people can do is to live their life without paying attention to those haters. Best wishes to this couple. I always wanted to live in a van house, must be really cool experience.

Is it criticism or Jealousy? A lot of people are trapped in a "read through" lifestyle where they did everything "proper" only to find that that they hate their life being stagnate. So when they see a couple like this, even when there are times of struggle, the experiences still beat the "proper" life style. A lot of women this situation romantic while the men find it to be like an exciting adventure. I wish them luck in their alternative lifestyle as life shouldn't be a script.

Considering many chineese people still not very open-minded they cannot accept the idea of mobile home and critizice because of that as well as the goverment might set a heavy restriction on mobile home in the future according to the majority, otherwise I hope they have a happy life living together.

I've seen many videos on KZbin about people building out a van to live in, this is one of the best. Usually they look smaller, bare and a little boring. This feels like a small apartment with all the cabinets and attention to detail. I'd like to see more about this van, and wish they'd shown the inside of the bathroom. I'd definitely hire this man to build one for me.

@@agentbey - I watched it again in slower motion, I didn't see them show all the bathroom. She is standing next to what looks like a shower head, but there seem to be clothes on the floor. I am wondering if it has a real shower or a toilet, if so what kind. Many videos show this, it gives people ideas for building their own. Do you know if they have another video showing more of their van? I still can't get over the cabinets they built, love the way it really feels like a home. I'd like a van like this. Update: I slowed the playback speed to .25, took screen shots of the van. It's much bigger than I realized. It's described as a camper van, the couple called it an RV. It is large enough to be an RV, in fact I've not seen a van this big. Now I'll be watching for one this big for myself.

The purpose of framing glorified homelessness as brave or exciting or above the fray isbto ignore the problems that forced the people into that position in the first place: rising cost of living and inaffordable housing. I don’t even think this couple is poor. For one, they have enough money to own the van and spend $23k renovating it and doesn’t seem to be a big deal for them to move back to apartment later when needed. Also the interior is done really nicely which is telling me that this is not their first interior project and they clearly knew what they’re doing. I say this is done more out of interest than necessity. Big kudos all the same to them though 👍🏼👍🏼

Apartments in big cities in Asia can cost easily over $100,000, so they still saved a lot. Especially since they can guarantee that it will be built to completion themselves and not find out that the construction company went bankrupt through corruption and just up and left.

THIS IS GORGEOUS!!! Did I see a washer/dryer in this?! I work in tourism and stay in employee dorm-stule housing or my own RV during the high seasons. During shoulder / low seasons, I have an SUV that I camp in. I'm not to this level with the van yet, but that's my end goal! What they're doing is becoming more and more common in the United States, though there is still something of a "homeless" stigma in cities with a high homeless population. So I stay out of there. Out on the road, this is the way to live. This is freedom.

I really like this idea and have "researched" sometime before also (one of my "dreams")... : • For a temporary, short term home it makes sense (RVs can't beat the stability and security of houses and appartments long term like when getting older and/or having kids, getting more visitors...and BTW how do you get mail delivered to your van by the postman? 😁). • Ignore what others say (beggars in the carpark). I think it is a brilliant (short term) idea! • I admire their skills, workmanship in converting the van into an RV. Did you DIY all by yourself or had help from contractors?

Smarter than people who bought into Evergrande. All the respect to this couple who went outside of the box, well in China anyway since it's pretty common in other places.

What a wonderful couple! Positive and creative. Though I would not want to use the word but since it’s being made to look like that in their society, I would also call them brave.

They have to really love each other to stand each other 24/7. This only works if they have different working schedule cuz there's not enough space.

@@saurabhshrigadi Have you ever lived with your spouse in a narrow space like in a van? Love is sweet in the beginning, but it will turn sour after some time. This is a real fact.

What are you talking about? Just set up an outdoor office outside the van and you can have a different view and an unlimited space.
