Charlton fan - With our record in the FA cup in the last couple years we were always going to make a mess of it. Went 2 up then we switched off and conceded 2. It’s like we expect teams to roll over for us but obviously you were going to be up for it. Good luck for the season 🤝

@@PatrickMapper : haha, yeah make that decades mate 😜 Funnily enough when I saw ‘Walsall’ I thought “Oh no! Not again!” And sure enough we were next out 🤣😂😅 I still remember going out to them at home when we were in the Premier! 🫣 Funny how the people moaning about Saturday seem to have forgotten that! Having said that, I think on their day, this Southend side would scare the bejesus out of most EFL clubs and a couple of Prem clubs to boot! 🤔👍

I cant ever recall loosing a game yet being so pround when leaving a game with my head up high.. them boys today, played for the badge and for eachother.. what a game and what a performance, love being part of a rocking hall, so glad we staying at our home.. thank you for your vids Pip was good to see Terry at the start.. Chesterfield last season is the one that rings a bell. We were equal in the game (despite the score) and we showed ourselves incredibly off the pitch too

What a classic old school game of cup football at Roots Hall. Just remember if we still had FA Cup replays that 90+3 equaliser would've sent it to a rematch at their place. Who knows what would've happened. Up the Blues!!! 🦐

Hi mate! Well blimey! That was a bit of a bloody game wasn’t it? 😄 Honestly, although I am naturally happy that my team won the game, I also feel so very, very proud of my home town team too! They were superb! In a strange way, I am glad it went the way it did, because if we’d gone 3-0 up it would have been game over, but thanks to our lad’s slip (it wasn’t deliberate hence no yellow card 😉) you got that pen, and second half Blues were awesome. 👍 In fairness, at 3-2 we should have seen the game out, but some questionable decisions by a few of our players when in the Southend half of the field (HELLOOOO! CORNER FLAG!!! 🙄🤦‍♂️) and our inability to just pass it about meant you were always likely to get one more chance, and I was just waiting for the net to ripple, lol! 🤣😂😅 Shame someone had to lose really, but if they keep playing to that standards, you guys are going to be headed in the right direction, believe me! 😃 Good luck for the rest of the season 👍🍀💙🍻

Brilliant just freaking brilliant!. Playing against a very decent league 1 side Southend have every reason to be proud today! Coming back not once but twice to even it up and then having chances to win it! Great to see an almost full ground. Great atmosphere and great support. Thank you so much for posting this. Again you captured the atmosphere and buzz at Roots Hall brilliantly. Wish I could have been there but had to settle for BBC radio commentary, which was cut at the end of normal time. Plenty to build on from that experience, onwards and upwards. We can do it!!

Blues have nothing to be ashamed of, & the sort of performance they put in today can only help them in the long run. Don't think the Ref had his eye on the ball at times , but we did well in spite of it. Cheers pip...up The Blues!

I was amazed to see how good we played, but we did do better than I expected, especially against a team like Charlton who are in the top middle of league one but it was an unfortunate loss for the blues today. But now we have to hope that we can get out of this league this season but it will be difficult but lets hope we can pull though this season. 🦐🦐🦐 COYB! 🦐🦐🦐

A crushing disappointment at the end, but so many positives. So good to see the North Bank full (I spent much of my youth in the late 1960's and the 1970's in the PAK). A real fighting spirit and a great atmosphere with a super crowd. In the end it was not to be but what a difference from those last days of Ron, when we thought we may no longer have a club. This gives me real hope to push on and if not this year then next, we will be right up there. Thanks for great coverage again Pip, but I still can't fathom just 120 likes at the time of writing this, with nearly 3,000 views. Come on Shrimpers fans, support Pip like we do the club!

Always was going to be a hard draw for sure but the Boys played with hart and did us proud no shame to lose to a league one side who struggled to beat a national league side Good blog again fella delivered with passion

Shame thought we where the better team for large parts of that game but I have to say everyone gave that game a 100 percent effort and it all goes down to the goalkeeper who in my opinion was at thought for 2 out of the 4 goals and it’s just not good enough I think we should be looking to drop Colin for good and play Jeacock bc Colin just isn’t good enough But well done blues unbelievable to push a good league one team that far and if it weren’t for the GK we probably would of won it Thanks for uploading the video D so quickly and as always great video and keep up that superb work you do UTB 💙💙

That was always going to be a messy game, you look across the results yesterday and how many football league sides were pushed all the way or beaten. That said I think we can safely say we conceded a penalty and two wicked deflections, Lady Luck certainly favoured Southend yesterday.
