There were so many dogs at the beach this morning - we live a few miles from the ocean and the beach is a place we go a LOT. We have a miniature poodle (fantastic breed folks), and we adopted her 15 years ago! We discovered the dog breeder after having met a family with another miniature poodle which they had named "Johnny Depp" LOL. We trained her, using many of the techniques I wrote about in my book, "Puppy Training: How to Housebreak your Puppy IN AS LITTLE as 7 Days" (Amazon) And we never looked back. She's been an amazing dog - kind of shy, but LOVES people. Allergens are not an issue, no shedding, easy peasy. But Southend Training has nailed SO MANY key elements with this video and many others.

Love watching these videos because I can always use a refresher. The guy I have now has been the easiest for me to train but It’s because I got used to the training and it’s become second nature. My last guy was a rescue and he was my biggest challenge. I regret till this day getting mad at him because he was such a fearful dog and I feel I failed him in that way. He was so broken when I rescued him. He was being put down a 8 months old by original owner then rescued to a shelter then put in with a foster that couldn’t handled him, then me. He had to be put down at eight from bone cancer and it was too soon for us. I wanted to do so much more for him. Blah tears… anyway thanks for posting these.

My rottweiler was such well trained with other people and knew when someone was dangerous but after a situation of one of my family members attacking another family member he is very fearful that some one will hurt us now working through it and hoping I can get him back on track

This is great and really helpful I’m watching all of your videos but what I really need to know is what the eff to do when you get that one dog that runs over and the owner can’t call them back. My dog goes crazy and I just don’t know got to deal with this. There’s always one 😩😩

We live about 600yards from a beautiful beach about 6-700yrds wide at low tide and about 6 miles long. We went for a walk today,there were literally hundreds of dogs there. I made a comment,I wish we could bring Merlin here, but we can't. We got him just over three years ago as a rescue from Romania, supposedly trained some hopes. Long story short, we've had three trainers none has been able to help. He's very reactive towards dogs and people. I'm now 74 still strong but have now contracted asthma. I need Southend training to help please. If anything happens to me he will have to be put down (I would hate that as I love him very much) as no one else can handle him. He's a lovely big brute and very powerful. If there is a Southend trainer in the Lincolnshire area I would love to know please.

Just watched this rotti, just like my one. He's 4 we rescued him at 9mths. He was fine until we took him dog training and they put him with about 10 others he got worse the following weeks. I stopped talking him. He's been reactive ever since. There are a few other problems. We've had 3 trainers none have been able to help me. He guards me in the streets with other people so much so I now take him out at around 5am. What clicker do you recommend as I got one but it's not loud enough please. H

This happens way too much with dog trainers that have created issues for owners and there dogs. The same thing happened to me and I have never trusted any dog trainer since. I watched so many dog trainer's on line now and I find a idea that works after watching more than one trainer and just keep on practicing every day. A marker like yes means something good his going to happen this is normally done with yes or a click and then a reward, food normally but this trainer is using a ball. Lots of tips and techniques out there but watch everything to do with your dog. I used to see a really reactive dog with there owners and I used to watch what they did and practice a few different things with my dog and I am starting to see a difference. Haven't used a balanced approach at all but I would if I had to, it all takes time and perseverance and timing before our dog's fixates and reacts.

What do you mean you just have to hold on? You're the pack leader. You prevent it. You distract her. You step in front of her. You make her sit but you don't allow her to chase after anything??
@peteinuk
@peteinuk 11 ай бұрын
@@K.T- I don't think you understand how strong determined and wired she is. How can I step in front of her when she sees a cat I didn't even notice? How can you distract a dog who has no interest in looking at me - even with food she gobbles it and then keeps pullng. I have never been the pack leader. She doesn't care - believe me we leave the house she just starts guarding and staring at potential threats. Walks are horrific. I make her sit when she sees a cat then try to distract her and move away but the intensity is unbelievable. I have never experienced such a dog in my life. She has pulled me down so many times despite a leader and muzzle. Trainers have given up. I have given up. Just a quick walk with her away from people and other animals is all I can manage. There is no joy with being her - so different from my other dogs. She is terrifying but she is ours.

I'm struggling to understand what makes some owners choose breeds that are unsuitable. I have a female and male rottweiler, they're a lot of work to keep happy and engaged, you have to be consistent, stern and active. They are great dogs but they aren't for everyone. For example I love hiking so a small or dog with low energy that doesn't engage in long walks wouldn't be ideal for my lifestyle. Choose breeds that suit, I find mastiffs are in fashion and people are choosing for looks. This is dangerous. The lady is too lazy for the breed, and has a "I know" attitude, this is a terrible mix for owning a rottweiler. Not a fan of her attitude at all, shouldn't be having a high drive, strong dog like a rottweiler. It's people like this that make battling the stigma that much harder.

If humans realized and understood that dogs are not humans, the world would be a better place 😂!! Im so damn happy to hear, "He's a Rottweiler..he thrives when he's treated like a dog"! Dogs were breed for jobs ..for a purpose. Humans create anxious, unstable and out of control dogs by treating them as human babies!!

You couldn't walk my Rottie with one hand she'd have you on the floor if she seen something she likes. If you chucked that ball - GONE! I have to have the lead around my body just to contain her strength and she is only 2 and looks Diddy compared to most. Perfect off the lead, great with dogs and children. Not aggressive. Just a d!9C on the lead.

Why the heck do people get dogs like this for if they are completely clueless. Why the heck are breeders and shelters letting people take dogs of this size without at least checking if the owners know the basics of training. I would be asking these owners where they got the dog from and putting a complaint in. Breeders and shelters, if they care, would be asking some basic questions to find out if the owners are capable. That dog should not even be outside the house yet. Not even mastered the basic stuff.

@1packatak Жыл бұрын
You need to define “breeder”. There are trash breeders just in it for the money. Then there are Real Breeders who screen potential owners and are very particular about who gets a pup. Shelters and rescues are basically just in it to get dogs in and out. Very few do any type of screening. It’s a really sad situation we are in.
