The Fact this locomotive uses an ESU Lok Sound 5 Nano Decoder is very cool, I think they have a simular setup on their Diesel Switchers.

Thanks for the review. I kind of like the "Durante Nose" on the loco.

I have the BN of these and the sound and performance is really impressive. I got it at a train show from Yankee Dabbler for like $170 or so.

John, the tiny lettering under the cab is EUGENE, probably out of Oregan.

prime mover sounds so accurate, I want a black widow one!

Nice review, I wish ESU would select a better horn as the stock one, if I get one of those the horn is the first thing changing.

Solid revieuw, thanks. Would it be possible to switch those couplers for MTL ones?

Yes!

You don't mention what decoder is in that version.

I believe all the Atlas locos are shipping with ESU decoders.

The real problem is that Atlas used ESU's E24 connector for the decoder connection. ESU is the only dcc manufacture using it and it's not a NMRA standard. As of now you have only one choice for a plug-n-play decoder that fit it and some new offerings from ScaleTrains.

why would you want anything other than ESU though? That's pretty much a no brainer. ESU or nothing.
