If you don't like the taste of ground turkey just add some beef bouillon to it. Tastes like ground beef and a great cost saver still.

I do better watching for ground beef (80/20) to be on sale....last time was $1.79 lb....before that $1.99. I buy enough to get me through until it's on sale again. I do really well this way and buy my chicken breasts and pork loins the same way. I tried the boullion with the ground turkey and still didn't like it. Just me I guess.
@rosed9665 Жыл бұрын
@@floralbouquets I want your sales, lol. The cheapest it's been around me is 3.29 for 73/27. Even marked down it's still pricier for me) The texture of the ground turkey is still different and I can't/won't use it unless mixed in with something like the sloppy joe (or a sauce of some kind) My chicken breast I wait for sales (2.29 p/lb or less) same with most meats but for some reason I can not get cheaper beef.
@floralbouquets Жыл бұрын
@@rosed9665 I shop between a few (4 or 5) stores close to me and I have one that does the good ground beef prices. Giant Eagle. They also do buy one get one free on meats....also a 5 package for $25 sometimes. Last time I got $37.50 of meat for $25.00. I just always watch the sales weekly....and that's the only way I shop.

Love these! One of our favorite budget weeks to do (especially as we turn to fall) is to do a “Tissy chicken week” as my kids call it! I get a Rotisserie chicken from Costco for $5, spend about $17.50 on other ingredients, and we have Chicken Pot Pie, Chicken Fajitas, Chicken Noodle Soup, Chicken Broccoli Rice Bake, and BBQ Chicken w/Scalloped Potatoes in the week! It usually comes out to less than $5 a day! 😊

I thawed a package of three large hot sausages and fried them when they were partially cooked I added fresh small Potatos cut into slices and fresh Broccoli with a little water and seasoning. YUMMM that fed me for several meals and between the liquid of the water, and the seasonings there was no reason for a sauce or butter. Today I still had a little of the Broccoli left as well as a lot of the sausage so I added it to a frozen store pizza - good use of leftovers plus I got my pizza fix. Oh, the Sausage was $2.99

I come from being poor. I wouldn't change it for anything. Nothing teaches you how to be rich in heart like being poor in your wallet. I am blessed to have had the experiences I have had with being poor. Watching your videos really is special for me because it takes me back to a lot of memories. You had some different meals than I had growing up...yes... I'm a Yankee 😂. My good friend from Texas likes to remind me all the time lmao. But we have some in common and for me it's the way you talk about it. I feel like there's a spiritual club for kids who grew up poor if that makes any sense. It's one of those things that there's just a way you think and feel that's different than if you don't grow up poor. So when someone else describes it I feel instantly connected to that person in a certain way. Thank you for the "feel goods" of your videos. Keep making them if you enjoy it because it's doing what you set out to do.❤. Also I don't know if you're a single mom but seeing just you and the boys in the videos so far reminds me of my mom's life as a single mom just trying to make it work. So if you are a single mom, God bless you for that and I salute you. If not, God bless you, and I salute you for putting this kind of joy into the universe!

I always do what my mother did. Cook onions/bell pepper with the meat to extend it, add veggies and flavor. I make a casserole of a box of mac&cheese. Add a pound of cooked ground beef, chicken turkey or pork, a half cup cooked onion (cooked with the meat), a can of drained diced tomatoes and a can of drained/rinsed black beans. Season to taste. It's good!

Yes because I've been finding that the large cans are half full of broth so I've been shaking the cans too see how much broth there's in each can. I use too find plenty if the canned chicken and ham at my family dollar& dollar General stores but its been a hit and miss lately. I try too buy 10 of each and beef in gravy,I get 3 meals from each can I add instant mashed potatoes & a veggies and sometimes I add a pack of brown gravy too make Manhattan's but my main gravy is mage with knorr beef bounlion 1tsp. And 2 Tbs. Flour 1 cup water. I always keep 56 serving jar of knorrs beef bounlion,1 jar of each rice ,pinto beans,northern beans, old fashion oats and chocolate wheats in my bug out bag. I use recycled jars for each too keep them sealed air tight. And hi just found a 8cup stainless pot with large& mini strainer lid but I do recycle the jars of all seasoning for light weight carrying.And recipe cards for home made soft shell tacos,egg rolls, and biscuit mix and egg noodles in a small recipe card note book and planning on laminating all of them.

The sausage and veggie bubble up looked yummy and filling, and I definitely want to give it a try. I don't even think I'd need a side with it. And the chicken, rice a roni, and tomatoes made me very nostalgic...it reminded me of a dish my Mum made when I was little. I think I'm going to have to make that one too, for old time's sake. I always have a largectub of plain Greek yoghurt in my fridge. It's great for breakfast, with a little honey and whatever fruit you have, or some granola, mixed in. I will stir in a large dollop to make a sauce thicker, creamier, and richer. It's a great marinade for meat. It can replace sour cream in anything. I'll add some garlic or seasoning to make a "crema" for tacos or wraps. It's such a versatile ingredient, and you certainly get your money's worth out of it.
