POLYCAM - Scanning into Nomad Sculpt with Polycam

Hey Glen, nice video! I'd only used Polycam for some basic LIDAR capture up until recently, after they updated the app to be able to use photogramettry. I used this to capture a rather complicated aircraft seat for reference in modelling a detailed game ready asset. I was surprised how well the item scanned, and just how much fidelity I could capture both in terms of mesh and texture. For my use case, it was simply used as 3D reference - a scaffold that I could model clean, low poly geometry around. It's a great app for sure. The free version doesn't export any 3D format files though, you need the paid/Pro version for that!?

Smooth and nice video as always💪I can highly recommend Scaniverse for lidar scans and Metascan for photogrammetry and LiDAR. I use both a lot in my workflows. Also Luma AI which works with NERF technology is super easy to use with stunning results in Nomad as well.

Hello, thanks for the video and the idea. I wanted to ask you if you know if there is a way to paint over the wall with the brush. I can neither create a new layer nor improve the mesh. Thnx!

These times anything that is not working on Android like Nomad Sculpt or MedibangPaint does (hence Procreate is not on Android anyway) cannot be used in the plane, bus, metro where we dont have internet access. So...

You can purchase small usb turntables to scan small objects. Saves walking round in circles with phone and getting dizzy lol
