Update. Kala confirmed today, a few days after launch that the back and sides are actually solid after all. The body and neck are one long solid piece with two pieces glued either side of the body... creating a 3 piece solid wood back. 😂 this is not immediately clear upon inspection and it took a while to get a confirmation. Apologies

EXCELLENT video this Alex - yes I will be reviewing it soon and don't tend to give my views away, but think you got this spot on.

Great run through, they do sound lovely, with your string change👍. Thanks for the demo.

Dear SUS team, thank you so much for being a great resource to all Ukulele players out there. I just called your landline and received such knowledgable and friendly advice on what I could buy for my preferences! It feels so much better to spend a lot of money on an instrument when you get a good and competent seller!

Thank you for the introduction to this new model. Always appreciate learning more. Kala did good to add fret dots and a 38 width neck. Your string change was also a great move. I suspect that this unique design, at this price point, will make this a popular model. All the best! Thanks

“If I thought they were shit, I just wouldn’t sell them.” Spot on - I can’t believe someone would doubt your honesty in the reviews, Alex. Yeah, yeah, you want to hawk your wares, but your reviews are quite thorough and absolutely thoughtful. I never miss them, and I always learn so much from you. Frankly, you’re the most knowledgeable reviewer out there!

Ok, this is the first Revelatory that I really like!

I always enjoy your reviews, Alex, I find them very honest and I trust your opinion. I think it’s wonderful that Kala has produced an affordable version of the Revelator. I prefer the look of the sound hole on the US version and of course it sounds better, but it only makes sense to cater to players who want something more affordably priced.

I have what is supposedly a Night Owl prototype. The body looks exactly the same but there are a few differences with the rest of it. It has a pin bridge with no pins but does have the pick up. No fret markers but does have the silhouette of what looks like a mountain on the head stock and 7th fret. No finish and no tuners. Real prototype or not, it was well made and cool to have.

How cool! Congratulations

Are they planning a baritone night owl?
@SouthernUkuleleStore2 ай бұрын
Yep but I would be surprised to see one released before summer next year.

Hi, thanks for the Night Owl description. I have some nice ukes, such as Fireball, but UAS made me to look for something fresh and I was thinking about buying this Kala, but laminate back is rather disappointing, and the price is still very high - as for half-laminate uke. Best regards from Poland, Michał 🐸

Back and sides are also solid. 3-piece, not laminate.

@Mandobird1 read the pinned comment. Kala themselves couldn't confirm the spec at launch...

@@SouthernUkuleleStore Thanks! I just bought one on backorder, have to wait until February. These things are flying off the shelves, it seems.
