Hey ❤ I’ve been getting a couple comments about the powdered sugar. When I made it to test out for a pie recipe it worked great for me! I haven’t tried it for cake icing, etc. A couple people recommended adding corn starch to help with clumps! I’ll definitely try that! I hadn’t made a bigger batch like this yet, so thanks for the recommendations! ❤ Love yall!

Hey 🙂 if you blanch your onions before dehydrating they get a caramelised flavour while drying 🙂

Thanks to you I’ve started canning with a electric pressure canner and I’ve been making my own bread. I’ve been trying to find pint and a half jars but they are SO expensive but I found that you can buy Classico spaghetti pasta 24oz jars. And they fit regular mouth lids I wish they were wide mouth size but there so much cheaper. Oh and you look great.

I buy my pints and dollar General stores and get them at half price at after Christmas sale. But I also buy them at goodwill And Amish stores. But I also buy ice cream topping jars and use them for canning too. Now their not a full pint tho. And they have a solid lid that can be reused for sauces, pickled, jellies and jams. I only use them for water bathing. And I've been buying organic spaghetti sauce it reuse for sauces. And aldi's cheese sauce and dip jars. Because they are all glass jars. Have your friends save them for you. Mine do and I share my veggies and fruits and pickle for them.

I took a screenshot of the dried country gravy mix. I'm pretty much the only one i my house that enjoys it so half of those packets end up going to waste sometimes. Making my own dry mix will definitely help bc I'd only make what I need. Less waste! Perfect. Thank you.

There's a a tip if your family drinks International Delight coffee creamer are great for storing your powdered sugar or flour anything where it would make it nice to be able to pour it I would only use these for things that you're going to use all the time not long-term storage because they're not they're not airtight best saves the bottles from going to landfill

One thing I got when I moved into my own place was one giant bowl its a 20qt stainless steel... yes it seems like over kill until you make multiplied recipes for bread (and can kneed right in the bowl and turn the bowl to kneed in different directions) or hot coco mix then you have plenty of room!

I agree with you so much about making stuff from scratch. I have been trying to do more prep from home and it has saved a lot on groceries. And like you said the more I do it the better I am getting at it. Now we can really tell the difference between our good homemade meals and store bought.

I didn’t have luck with powdered sugar staying long and some recipes suggested corn starch to help it stay loose so you don’t have to blend out clumps later or each time you use. I decided it was easier to buy and just make in emergency. Hope yours lasts better.

I leave the rings on when vacuum sealing. It will actually help to keep the seal tight. Unlike canning, you won’t get any botulism or those kinds of things. If you lose the seal on dehydrated things or dry mixed you will lose them because the air seeps in. Go ahead and put a ring on it!!☺️

Yes it is cheaper too make from scratch. I make chicken tenders and chicken nuggets, breaded tenderloins, country fried steaks I do this all up at one too 2 days and even taco meat. You compare the price of premade boxes and you will see a big difference in price. And your family will be in better moods too. I just bought most of my monthly groceries and spent less because of the free veggies and fruits I've gotten. And yes peppers for steak fajitas, polish sausages, pickle relish, pickled mixed veggies,Cole slaw for egg rolls, mixed berry jellies and jams ,Apple sauce ,apple butter, cauliflower for side veggies and California blend for stir fries, zucchini for relish and bread. That way I can buy more meats that I can freeze half and can the other half. And yes I use too spend $100.00 a month now I get too buy more meats too have on hand. I person on fixed income so you do what you have too . Too make ends meet. I'm blessed too have my house paid in full. That's I make it.

Thank you, Tamera, for showing how you are changing from different mixes/ingredients to home made. I have made brown sugar before but was hesitant to try powdered because a couple of posters (on separate channels) said theirs had turned into a lump (1 while she was blending it and 2 after storing it "in a really good airtight container.") I'm guessing if that happened, either there was water in the blender (1) or high humidity (2). I live in southeast Mississippi, so I deal with humidity ... a lot LOL Unfotunately, mostly I deal with it by throwing out clumped up, gooey spices. I just bought some dessicant packets and am going to try making some spice blends using what I already have (and is still usable) and see what I can come up with. Hopefully, adding a dessicant packet to each jar will help. I hope you continue sharing your kitchen tips and tricks with us. You are such an inspiration. ❤

Tried making powdered sugar with my Ninja......didn't work great. It took so much time and the finished product did work (icing for cinnamon rolls) it did dissolve by the next day so in a pinch with time it will work. (meaning the sugar will dissolve at some point and won't be grainy.) A Ninja will not make powdered sugar like store bought.

I love making my own powered sugar and brown sugar. I only use it during the holidays. I run my powered sugar thru a mess strainer to get my lumps out. You can also add some tapioca starch to help with the clumps. If I kept homemade brownie mixes in my home, my husband would just make and eat them all. lol. I love that idea. When you vacuum seal, are you using new lids?
