It's time to get this Prius finished up and on the alignment rack so we can get it back to the customer. In this video we finish up the brake lines and get the sub frame put back where it belongs.
-Enjoy!

No. It was purchased new in 2010 by late mother in law and spent an entire life in the salt bath of Rochester,NY. Was only started to be washed weekly during winters in the last 1-2 year when wife prohibited dad from driving it in favor of Volvo XC60 with all safety features person might need. After SMA deemed Prius worth fixing, I decided to Krown treat it which was done yesterday. That wouldn’t work for me. I just don’t have the knack for this work. I enjoy watching others do it, but I always get too dirty for what little I do, I sweat profusely, crack my knuckles against hard surfaces when wrench let’s go, gouge my skin, get nasty debris in my eyes (once got a metal splinter in my eye - went to doctor 3 days later and he said it’s good I didn’t wait too much longer as it was starting to rust!), break anything that can be broken, drop small and critical parts into dark irretrievable crevices or they ricochet across the room, never to be found until I don’t care anymore. Glad to let others do it. If some people can get satisfaction seeing cysts and pimples pop, I don’t think it’s too weird to enjoy watching procedures done well on automobiles. 😃

Great video, and a smart trick I learned from a friend and mechanic. When you are working on the brakes hydrolics, depress the brakepedal and lock it in place before you start. That way you block the master cylinder whitch will let no fluid thru the brakelines. There"ll be next to no spilled brakefluid on the ground. Works great:)

About 15 years ago, I brought my Jimmy in for a rear break line. The shop (butcher) just cut off the old line and ran a new line down the middle of the truck. Right over the gas tank and never even zip tied it to anything. The thing rattled over every bump. They never remove the old line and while they were there. They knocked the vacuum hose off my vacuum reservoir for my HVAC mode door, so all I had was floor.

Please record the Outback subframe. I LOVE these subframe videos. I spent one year of my life as an inspector on the GM Oldsmobile Final Assembly line, inspecting the left front wheel assemble: upper A-frame, lower A-frame, sway bar, upper ball joint, lower ball joint, steering link, and axle nut. It is a delight to me to see how different car engineers solve the _same_ problem. These designs do the same thing but look so different.

You'll be doing the rear axle next. And I hope the hybrid battery has been done or there may be a surprise in the near future. Oh well, another video opportunity. The rims look awful and that's how my corolla rims looked so I got 2020 used corolla rims and wheel covers off marketplace for my 2009 S because I assumed they weren't safe, but a tire shop said I could clean up my alloy rims and have them painted and cleared and they would be worth good money. Never saw a wheel cover for an alloy rim before.

Everything that remains rusty would drive me crazy. Even the little bit of surface rust I see on my older truck here has me down there with a wire brush and some rust reformer. How people can let it go I can't understand. Especially a 75K truck.

The old lines looked good. This concerns me because my 2009 corolla is a little rusty too but not as bad as this one subframe wise but the lines look OK. They seem well coated.
