Hey Eric. I have checked everywhere to find a 20 pack of sensors that give the tool for free and can't find any distributor or retail source that includes the scanner for free with a 20 pack purchase. Can you share where you buy these at?

Was thinking about getting one of those TPMS tools. That looks like it works great... Most vehicles, you can skip the road test, just start the car then go around the car and activate each sensor with the tool and the TPMS module should pick up the activation's and turn out the light. Does not work on every vehicle but i would say 90% of the time this works for me.

😤 you can thank ford an there crappy firestone tires for these piece of garbage. You still have to put air in the tire so what do you gain. Just more useless government mandated expense on a new car. No wonder there 30 thousand dollars for a car now days.

After your last video using one of these tools, I was surprised to see you read Key FOB Data. I bought one the next day, just mainly for that feature. I had a few Key FOBs that did not work or would not program. This tool confirms that the FOB is transmitting from each button and takes the frustration out of NOT knowing if the FOB, Button, and Battery are functioning. This makes Key FOB repair and function testing easy, which then helps you in ensuring that you are programming a "Functioning FOB" to the vehicle. (Often a FOB only needs a battery, battery contact cleaning, and/or Button Contact Cleaning. You can do this on the bench and verify each key function without the car. I do not have access to a tire machine, so TPMS functions are only for reading each sensor, reading sensor data, and primarily re-learning tire positions after tire rotation. Those functions can make this tool valuable for the DIY'r just for FOB & Tire Rotation functions alone. Interesting Video showing what the tool can do.

Just ordered one of these off eBay brand new for $125. Thought that was a pretty good deal. I don't need to buy the MX sensors right now, just want the tool to interrogate the OE sensors on my Toyota and see where they stand since they are 7 years old. Then I will decide what I want to do.

The Bartec tool is nice, but the guys making the updates are about as sharp as a marshmallow. They’ve made my job miserable for the last year. When it takes longer to reset the tpms on a 4-runner than it does to put tires on it, that’s a problem.

I've been using the TS508 for about 6 months. I love the tool, not so much the Autel MX sensors, I installed 3 in my 2007 Jeep GC 5,7 Limited. I cloned them from the existing sensors. They initially all showed up in the EVIC. Subsequently they would drop out when the vehicle was left parked over night. Then they would randomly drop out while driving. I did an OBD relearn with some improvement but still with random drop outs from the EVIC and flashing TPMS warning light. Autel acknowledged there are issues with some OEM's as they use a different method of sending the data to the ECU. I checked the Autel scan tool users Facebook page. There are known issues with Jeep Grand Cherokee, Compass, and Liberty. Also Toyota. I continue to use the tool, but I switched to VDO RediSensors.

Yep, they sell all kinds of pre-programmed sensors. You can buy them from numerous people. You can get them for about 1/4 of the price he is paying for these Autels. They jack the price of so much on the sensors that you're not even getting a free tool. I can buy all four sensors for about 15.00 already programmed. You are paying 15 to $30 for One Autel.

#1 What do you do when someone changes tire size and they want their OD/Mileage to display correctly? I recently went up in Tire size from a 205/70R18 to 275/75R18, I know when it shows I’m doing 40 I’m actually traveling around 43/44MPH. Display at 70 I’m traveling at 75 mph. In general it’s okay but every thing else will be off actual mileage and gas mileage. Is there a DIY FIX? #2. What’s your opinion on the vehicles that drops down to 4 cylinders from 8? If I had a mechanic turn that off would it void my 100K powertrain warranty from GM?

Bogus that Autel (and every other tool maker) only allows programming or cloning of their own "MX" sensors. Bartec is pricey but allows aftermarket sensors, like you said. But man, everybody wants a piece of the $$$ pie that mandatory TPMS created since inception. 😕

Researching tire valves and tpms systems for my daughter's car. She has a 2017 Nissan Sentra SV and I'm in the process of getting her a full-size spare. I've gotten her new tires and have one of the old tires to mount on a basic steel wheel like the rest of the wheels for the car. My question(s).... Do I have to use a tpms valve? can I just use a basic tire valve that fits that particular wheel if it's going to be a spare? Or should the full-size spare be set up like a regular tire and rotated into use wth tpms system for that tire as well? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. If I'm missing anything, any help would be appreciated!

I have a 2016 Tacoma with 2 sets of OEM wheels. Can I copy the data from my original sensors to the new sensors so I don't need to relearn every time I switch from summer to winter tires? Apparently Toyota can't keep a memory for 2 complete sets of wheels which is BS. I guess only if the sensors are autel sensors by the sounds of it. I just purchased this tool as it was on sale for a pretty good price and figured it would save me having to go to the dealer every winter/spring to get my TPMS reset.

It will relearn other brands but will not “program” other brands. If that makes sense? If you have a blank shrader sensor for example, it will not program it. If you have one that has existing info on it, it will relearn positioning, reset etc.

If I ever buy a vehicle with TPMS, I would not waste money on maintaining the TPMS system, I would just wait for it to die, then put standard tire valves, and then put electrical tape over the light. I check my tires each time I get gas with my handy dandy tire pressure gauge.

Nice setup Autel has with their sensors. That's the only way to go, IMO. Way cheaper than anywhere else. I bought the Maxisys 906TS just about 3 years ago, since it had the TPMS tool built in. Figured I'd get a lot of use out of it - I haven't used the feature once! I didn't realize at first that you can't fail inspection in MA for the tire light. Anyone that knows that just deals with the light - they don't want to spend the money. Can't blame them there. This state has their hands in every one of their pockets - might as well save a buck where you can. I got sick of doing the in-vehicle relearn of the sensors long ago in the Silverado. Have to do it every 6 months, since I have 2 sets of wheels & tires for summer and winter. That got old after the 1st year! Removed the sensors from the winter wheels, sold them on eBay, and stuck regular valve stems in. I just deal with the light all winter long. I prefer a tire gauge! Oh the humanity! 😂

Mr. O, can you imagine ... normaly a car can store 8 sensors. So for summer and winter tires. But in the EV Renault Zoe we only have 4 sensors we can store at one time. A big shame. Means, on every change summer / winter tires, the service calls 30 bugs extra for learning the sensors to the car... That is ridiculous... they found their way to make their money on EVs. There is nothing to do for service.haha But some of us have clone sensors, or other change the tires theirself and just ignore the warning of missing sensors in the winter time hahaha The clone sensors are a big topic on these cars since years PLUS: now we have a way to program the IDs direct to the car with "CanZE" App. You only need to type in the ID code ... send ... that's it. So not everyone needs DDT4ALL ;)

With that Altel sensor, can it be read with other scanners? You said it can read OE sensors, but can other scanners read them?

Other brands of TPMS scanners can read the data the Autel sensors transmits, but the other brand scanners will not be able to program the Autel sensor

KCautodoctor that’s what I thought. It’s a good tool for diy. Only be worth it if a tire machine and balancer were at hand.

Eric I have a legit question for you. I just like you are a small shop. If you had a choice between 3 OBDII DIAGNOSTIC units from the after market which, would you choose? Autell /Snap-on/ OTC ? I ask because I am wanting someone else's opinion from outside my area here in Missouri. Have been a big fan of Autell because of the customer service and support.

I worked on a 07 grand Prix. You get into the tpms in the vehicle itself, lower or add air to one tire at a time until the chime chimed and you were done calibrating! Simple!!! WHAT HAPPENED to that?!? A 5 year old could do it!!! Now you have to buy a separate scan device AFTER spending 40 to 60,000 dollars for a vehicle?! Great marketing scam there!!!

one of these things is a great way to mess with a road rager. keep calm back off and follow them at a distance when he parks you erase his sensors. LOL.. PAYBACK.. shop charges him $200 to reprogram.

I looked into Amazon for the 20 sensor kit with 5108 tool and am only finding a kit with 8 sensors. Both .com and .ca Amazon... maybe I'm blind but was interested in the cost for the larger kit. Have many friends I could help out with this and a few of my own ;)

Hi, I go to a technical high school and I am in the 3rd year of training (Junior year). Me and some of my friends are about to start our co-op program ( real world experience) in dealers I’m going to a Ford dealership and I was wondering If SMA or anybody else who has professional experience would have any input on must have tools that you might not instantly think of. Thanks

I had an interesting problem. My uncle bought a used 2015 Nissan Altima that originally had steel wheels with hubcaps. The little small car lot said they would trade him some aluminum Nissan wheels for the steel ones with hub caps. Problem was the wheels they put on it was 2012 year wheels and had 315 MHz sensors on it. The 2015 used 433 MHz. I had bought a TS 508 and figured out what the problem was. So I ordered some Autel sensors and am taking it on the road Monday to make sure it all works. It bothers me that some people are saying they have trouble with Autel Sensors. I sure hope these last! One last thing, since I only traded sensors and didn't change the location of the tire on the wheel, I hope I won't need to re-balance the wheels? What is everybody's experience? Tom

I cloned MX sensors on an ‘07 Toyota RAV4 but the TPMS light would come on and go off randomly. I then got regular replacement sensors and used the tool to successfully program them.

Fun & games with TPMS. The TPMS malfunction light was on in my daughter's 10yo hi-YOON-day. The Buffalo-based tire chain (the one I'm I'm DONE with) sells aftermarket sensors for $100 installed & programmed; when we got there , the guy said he couldn't program hi-YOON-day and we'd have to go to the dealer. Dealer wanted $95 diagnostic fee, plus $130 per sensor, plus $ridiculous for programming. On a whim I called a non-chain local tire shop - $65 installed and programmed, and hi-YOON-day was no problem. A few weeks later, all the staff at the chain store had training on new TPMS computers; I wonder if they can do hi-YOON-day now?

I have a question about Tpms sensors. When you purchase new tires, the new tires may have a different max. Psi rating than the oem spec. Tires. In my case 35 psi oem tires, 45 psi new tires. Does there need to be a program change in the ECM to accommodate the new psi rating. Or is relearning the sensors enough. I am concerned that the alarm would not set until the pressure drops below 35 psi on a 45 psi tire.
