In a previous video • Why You Should Never G... I had a look at this 2015 Jeep Cherokee with the big 3.2 and determined it had a faulty fuel injector. Now it is time to tear into it and see if we were correct.

@@PJBonoVox It could be a combination of things. I have other friends who are KZbinrs and have their camera on the 5.1 setting and to my end it sounds ok. It may be the software Eric may be using to edit the videos that it is turning down the volume on certain platforms of audio. On my playstation 4, I also see the muted volume on certain videos as well. I was originally thinking it may be how it is uploaded as a issue until he mentioned it.

Obviously you guys aren’t experiencing the problem. It’s not exactly a “Roku issue” as no other channels, regardless of audio settings” are having this problem. The ads during Eric’s videos are coming in exponentially louder than his audio. Not exactly a big deal, but if you are trying to not disturb sleeping children you have to be quick on the remote’s mute button.

It amazes me too. I'm always nervous about open ports, especially since I'm known to drop things. I always have a roll of masking tape on hand, and it goes on as soon as a port is opened. I prefer it to stuffed rags because rags can be forgotten, green masking tape is hard to miss.

You're a true presenter, giving the audience what you know they want. You unplugged the new injector and checked its resistance. before all of us keyboard warriors could ask about it. If this car is back for the oil filter housing upgrade, you can thank yourself that you used that Sil-Glyde on the fittings and the cover. And I like the owner's approach if another injector fails - replace all of the remaining 5. It looks to be in decent condition, so here's wishing the owner some more good years with this car.

The audio doesn't sound too bad to me. The camera probably has a condenser microphone so it picks up in a wide pattern. Maybe there is a setting to narrow that or limit the range. The camera may have a jack for a separate microphone if you want to go that route, you could choose the direction and range you want.

It's not too bad now, but I'm wearing ear buds and I can hear all kinds of room noise. It's going to be terrible come this winter when the heater is running off and on. If he doesn't mind more investment, I'd suggest a wireless microphone like the Rode. All they'd have to worry about is syncing the audio afterwards, but that's why you see a lot of KZbinrs clap before they start talking.

Boy Eric, are you lucky - I saw you check the resistance of the injectors and most were the same except for one, which was the bad one. Then you put the new one in your hand, fiddled with it, and installed it !!!! The bells and whistles started blaring in my brain and my mind said - "" Isn't he going to test the resistance of the new injector to be sure its the same as the good ones ??????? My hands were ready to write a full page reply with not so good admonishments !!!!! Then your brain kicked in and said exactly what mine was thinking !!!!! And you checked the resistance - I'll bet everyone was over joyed at that !!! I was !!!!! We think alike !!!!! Very good diagnosis and quality dis and re assembly !!!! All the while giving us your hints and tips as well as cautions and dangers to better us in our own endeavours !!! Spectacular teaching !!!! That's a lot of cash every month for that data you purchase from them companies - I hope you always get your moneys worth !!!!!! I say that about my internet cost per month - is this expense really worth it ??? And when I watch SMA, Rainman Rays, Pine Hollow, and many other QUALITY websites - I say - YES, it sure as hell is !!!! There is quality in Avoca, NY !!!!!!! 😃🤩🤓🤡😺

I used the "turn backwards until you feel the threads drop in the groove" trick on vacuum cleaners with those coarse thread plastic body screws as well. As for "torquing to specs" on those screws, my rule was to use my fingertips to hold the screwdriver, and never my whole hand. If it was as tight as I could get with my fingertips, it would not rattle out of the plastic, but it also wouldn't break the screw bosses.

Just want to say that you exemplify the best out there. I spent 36 years diagnosing and repairing diagnostic imaging equipment (CT and PET Scanners). The process is the same, gather data (from the user, testing, wherever), compare the data available to the symptoms presented and confirm the details, if possible, with the manufacturer’s details, and then, and only then, decide what to do. Intermediate test results as you dig in to the issue are also essential in confirming a diagnosis. Nice!

great video as always! I’ve been watching your videos for a few years now and man it’s tempting me to go to trade school and get into auto mechanics just seems so satisfying to find and solve problems all day and seems like something that makes you constantly learn! Might just have to finally make that jump

As another person already commented I suspect that your new camera's built in microphone is omnidirectional (its pickup pattern is from all directions), an external cardiodial microphone would be more directional (the microphone would tend to be more sensitive to sounds originating in front of it and less sensitive to sounds behind and to the sides).
@envisionelectronics
@envisionelectronics Жыл бұрын
That’s exactly what it is and I used to design microphones…the wider pattern picks up more room reverberation and noises. I agree with the criticism that the background noises are distracting especially the doorbell.

How do you ever remember to reconnect all the jiggly bits? I do sparkalators in my wrangler with the big 3.6 and forgot to plug in the throttle body. She was NOT happy when I turned her back on!

For some reason I missed this one when you published BUT I came back to view after you put out the return for the #1 injector and mentioned having replaced #4. 😅 Nice job Ponch. Love the channel. Hell I love working on my own when I can. 😂

The audio sounds good to me, I can hear a lot more back ground sounds to as well. Like rubbing sounds, clicking sounds, snapping sounds. Are you say these sounds are bad?
@athhud

Nah, it’s a volume issue. On Roku and a limited few other devices, you can barely hear the audio even with the volume maxed out. Then when an ad pops up during the video it rattles your teeth.

I'm seeing way more fuel injector fails over the last year or so over numerous car forums? Why is this? Bad gas or just coincidence?

Direct injection injectors or standard injectors? Regular injectors, there are just way more cars now aging out would be my guess. What's the average age or mileage of the vehicle that loses an injector?

I believe they did raise the ethanol limit or amount in fuel.

Depends on who made the injectors ... injectors either get clogged/corroded or the suffer heat degrading/failure on the electrical side ... I've had Bosch injectors last 20 years/260K

A good bit of it is that they’ve gotten very good at engineering things to be as cheap as possible and still make it out of warranty. Things like normal injectors have been around long enough to really get priced down to the minimum.

That said, the enemy of intelligibility is reverb or echo. The farther away the microphone is to the source (you) the more reverb and or echo will be present. I would suggest a lapel mic if wirelessly possible.
