Yesterday, fire investigators here in Norway told that a plastic beach ball was a probably cause of a massive forest fire that reached homes too, last summer. It worked as a magnifying glass in the sun in the dry vegetation and strong wind made it bad quickly.

Great vlog and it's nice to see the team back together! As I watched the video from the BC trucks, I recalled the original onboard videos using low resolution B/W Ntsc equipment. The 4K resolution of your current onboard video systems is truly amazing and really enhances the feeling of being on scene. Kudos to SMF for recognizing the importance of having high quality videos. Keep up the great videos and above all STAY SAFE! 🚒🚑😷

Those insane winds you got a few days after the brush fire ripped through western Iowa the next day causing at least nine confirmed tornadoes in the tri-state area. Standing outside before the storms hit if it wasn't for the neighbor's Christmas decorations it looked like it was July again. Wish I had thought to mount my gopro outside before it hit. That was the first, and I hope, the only time I've heard the sirens go off in December for a reason other than their monthly test.

This ducks first bubble bath. I am sure they enjoyed the warm bath and not the cold rinse. Drilling a hole into a fuel tanker, not my idea of fun at all. Righting it was not a safe option I take it? At least the house explosion was handled quickly and resolved. That is a problem in Colorado, with the nice winter weather we also have no moisture too often therefore Wildfires any time of the year and windy days are very common as well. Luckily, we have you to intervene 24/7 to put them out and save properties and people too. Great video and nice patches too.

QUESTION ? Why don't American fire trucks carry water like European fire trucks do ? i've seen videos where UK fire fighters have put a vehicle fire out before US fire fighters have even got water on a similar sized vehicle and fire from the point of arriving on scene, simply because they carry water onboard the engine and can start fighting the fire in less than 10 seconds, by just pulling on the hose reel and turning on the nozzle, instead of having to get hoses unloaded and tools and set up hydrants and attach hoses and turn water on and everything else they do, i mean European fire trucks have all the other hoses and equipment to attach to fire hydrants and run out more hoses as well, but because they carry water they can start fighting the fire within seconds of arriving while they are still setting everything else up, The difference in the time it takes to start putting water on the fire could save lives and prevent serious burns.
@C.CUMM1NGS2 жыл бұрын
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO Nice to know to be honest not seen many of your videos, however i am subscribed, it's just it's got to be around 95% of fire fighting vids i have seen from the US they always run the hoses out and connect to hydrants before starting to fight fires, so i assumed most US trucks don't carry water.
@Spitfire85202 жыл бұрын
@@C.CUMM1NGS All fire engines in the US have a water tank with a minimum of 300 gallons (1136 liters) of water based on standards set by the National Fire Protection Association, but that is not obvious when looking at the trucks from the outside. Hose reels are not as common on US fire engines meant for structure fires, but almost all engines have a length of hose with a nozzle that is preconnected (often called a "preconnect") to the outlet of a fire pump that will allow them to immediately put water on the fire as soon as the hose is unloaded and the pump is primed. Hose reels are much more common on wildland engines where it is more important to be able to quickly unload and load hose with a fast moving fire. The videos you are seeing might not be a complete picture either, especially if they are on the other side of street from the fire. It only takes one to two firefighters to operate a hose line, so the rest of the crew is free to do other things like setup a connection to the hydrant before the water in the tank runs out. There is actually a great example of this in this video at 11:43 where you can see a firefighter on the far left using a hose reel and the onboard water tank to put water on the fire while the other three firefighters unload additional equipment.
@C.CUMM1NGS2 жыл бұрын
@@Spitfire8520 Not what i have seen in loads of videos, i've seen the fire engines pull up and start unloading hoses searching for hydrants hooking it all up and everything before any water is put on a fire, Hell i even compared 2 videos once one British one American i compared from the time the engine pulled up on a burning car, both cars about the same size and both fires about the same size, the British crew had water on the fire within about 5 seconds and the fire completely out before the American crew even had water on the fire, all the British firefighter had to do was open his door jump out slide up the shutter grab the hose on the reel go to the car and press the trigger, But the Americans were unloading hoses connecting them looking for hydrants connecting hoses again turning on pumps and everything before they could start fighting the fire. I've seen similar things in loads of videos where it is several minutes after American firefighters arrive before any water is put on the fire.
