Do they have two stations that respond to the airport? I remember seeing a different station that also had a couple AARF trucks. Was it 35?

This yellow-ish/green-ish color of Red 2 will be the new mandatory color for all ARFF vehicles in the US as the FAA has expressed their intent on adopting this rule already in effect in european airports in an effort to make this a worldwide norm. It is not currently mandatory, but the FAA already advises new apparatus be painted this way as they will change their rules in the forseeable future. So it's not really tradition, but more future-proofing by SMFR fleet management.

@@rubenjanssen1672 Well, the dutch are kinda famous for being ... a little different when it comes to air traffic regulations. They pissed of IATA more than one time in the past :) But you are right, I can't find any hard regulation on the colour of ARFF vehicles in europe at the moment, so maybe I was misremembering that it was already mandatory. But it definitively is a recommendation in most european countries, just like it already is a recommendation by the FAA, because ICAO is pushing all members to at least recommend the colour after multiple studies have found that this is a very "attention-grabbing" colouring (alledgedly because it doesn't exist in nature, but that's just a nice anecdote, the high-vis effect is meassurable).

Thanks P.S I was just wondering about the two questions hopefully you could please answer my questions - let me know please. Thanks

I agree with more Fire Medics. As for the day in life they have pretty much covered every position involved in operations. Guess they could do administrative positions and watch people sit at a desk and/or in meetings for 20 to 30 minutes 🤣 Actually I would like to see day in the life of logistics and facilities...You know the backbone of any business or organization.

So when the fire start in the building, smoke extend all over hospital and launch multiple fire alarm systems. With the health/fitness culture of South Metro, I’m sure this captain is fit for duty. Not to mention, with his age also comes years and years of exposure and experiences with numerous incidents that can be passed on to the younger crew. Never count out the old guys, as long as they’re still willing to put in the work and do the job. They’re an amazing resource. Show a bit of respect.

Portland Fire had a Firefighter retire a few years back that was in his late 70s or early 80s. Still fit for duty and passing medical and physical testing. Only reason he was retiring was because his wife wanted to vacation more before they got to "old". Knew another guy who got hired full time at age 45 smoked everyone on the CPAT, He retired at 70. Then there's me 100 pounds overweight and was still passing yearly physical abilities and medical exams. Our new BC of training could not believe I did the wild land pack test (45 pound vest for 3 miles in 45 minutes or less) in 42 minutes. So he made me do it again so he could time me I did it in 39 minutes. Never underestimate us fat and/or old guys Lol.
