Southsea Miniature Model Village | Portsmouth UK

OBSCURIST TOURIST 125 - Come along as I marvel at the 1/12th scale Southsea Model Village, built in 1956, which features more than 40 miniature buildings, houses, forts and castles, as well as a `G' scale garden railway.
The third-acre landscaped gardens are set inside the grounds of an old Victorian fort. Contained inside are a large scale electric garden railway, a 100ft-long rifleman's tunnel, a scale model of Portsmouth Guildhall, a 10,000-gallon waterfall and stream, and a small toy museum.
They are located on Southsea seafront next to the canoe lake and rose gardens, just 30 seconds walk from the beach. The model village is a delightful place to spend time for both young and old. Set in beautifully maintained gardens with 100s of different varieties of flowers it truly is a great place to spend an afternoon. The Rifleman's Tunnel which is 125ft long and holds our scale handmade model of Portsmouth Guildhall and Spinnaker Tower.

If you like this, head to Beckonscot Model Village - it's genuinely amazing compared to this, which IMHO looks a bit meh. My brother actually has a better model village in his own back garden than this one

That is so neat. I wish we had something like that. There was one thing I didn't know about was my father told me there used to be a Storyland Village in our area but of course it was before my time. Also we have a historical park called Monmouth Battlefield with a small museum It also has a small theater where you get to watch a short film about The Battle of Monmouth. And after the film is over, the screen opens up and you can see the field where the actual Battle took place.
