Thanks, brothers! Y'all are walking the plumb line of truth between the ditches of cheap grace on one side and "shame on you" on the other side. God is rescuing me with his discipline, grace and mercy which leads to cleansing, healed hurts and life transformation. It's helpful and encouraging to hear you talk about the journey in such breadth and depth.

I have to say, I’ve been struggling with alcoholism and just addiction in general and the way your guys are explaining it… is really motivating me to take that step into Christ. I’ve tried to quit, idk how to quit, my life is a wreck bcuz of it and i know it but still choose to overlook it. I’ve tricked myself over and over. I’ve been drunk just about every day since 2020. please pray for me y’all.

Bruh this episode!!! I was thinking about what it means to humble ourselves as children the other day, and it is so complex. Children are so genuine and sincere, yet totally reliant in their parents. The beauty of their reliance though, is that there is no pride keeping them from submitting to those who provide for them. As a father I understand better daily how powerful this command is and I strive daily now to be submissive to God's will and provision.

I understand what yall were getting at when yall were talking about KB's struggle to fall back to being "regular Christians" and I felt that. However, as a FAMU alum, I bout had a fit! Everything has context so I want to extend some grace for that comment and believe yall meant nothing negative or insulting by it. Grace & Peace

While yall are saying it's not just reflecting on Gospel, yalls redeemed minds ALSO always end up back at incarnation, Christ truths. This is dope. I love how you thread day to day and incarnational...sacrificial...humanity...resurrection....redeemed... truths!!!!!

I’m loving this conversation because it’s making me think through a theological question I’ve been pondering for a while now. Y’all mentioned that sometimes we may be steeped in sin not because we don’t love God, but because of other unaddressed internal issues. Do you think it’s possible for someone to be a carnal Christian? Or to be a Christian but not a disciple?
@SouthsideRabbi2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Travis! No, we don't believe that to be the case, especially not the goal of following Jesus. If someone is convicted of their sin, that is God calling us to turn away from it. We cannot stay in a state of unrepentance and be safe. Jesus said "pick up your cross and follow me".
@eyeamwhoiam2 жыл бұрын
The level of cognitive dissonance, reductionism, apathy and minimizing that us Christians walk in (and all in the name of being gospel centered), is astounding… we tend to avoid difficult issues bc of how it make us feel and use “it’s a sin issue” to dismiss the need for practical empathic approaches to the worlds ills. God help us!

Great vid so far, 38 mins in, but I’m pondering on what you meant by total depravity my brothers? Was it more so from a calvinistic perspective, unto where humans cannot do anything moral, they’re so depraved that they can’t even say yes to God, basically irresistible grace has to pull them in forcefully. Or another view ? I’m not very studied in this topic, not sure if there’s different views!
