For new players- the darkest deeps is EASY “If” you prepare. Do NOT rush. Build down with rope ladders, position platforms next to them so there are no errors in jumping. Put lights on the cave walls. If you are only half way down before despair just come up to the top. When recovered or the next day, continue. Get to the bottom. FIRST THING!! put down a camp hearth then lay a mapstone. REMOVE the hearth ( the hearth causes the hoard raids) now lay the vertical lights each side on the floor until you get to the first cross roads. If no enemy ( the big red bear thing!) is there throw down a small hearth and lay granite barriers across each pathway 2 high. You can jump over-them easy, BUT the red bear monster will not go over them, when it walks to them it will turn round and go the other way! Pick up the small hearth. Lay more lights and fast travel back to the base of your choice. Eat, sleep, stock up with lambass bread and go down when you want. Mine the walls and break the stones with jewels in ( the stones respawn). Rinse and repeat this technique to make the lower deeps safe as can be and logically get everything with minimal threat. dawn pale ale or mirovur are two ales that will work, also bring lembas ... I put down torches and a map stone to go back and forth. The nodes to dot respawn but the stand alone trocks do. Attach the rope ladders to the quick platforms. avoid the baldog/baby balrog it has a small agro radius, hits like a truck, and gives crappy reward of 1-3 black diamonds.

Oooo thank you for the info! I will try to go down there for a longer period. I seem to have problems with the rope ladders they just fall but Im probably doing it wrong on the quick platforms

Also with your coins you can make treasure piles and admire them for a buff… doesn’t last the longest but sometimes it’s nice for raids or if you have a boss close to a fast travel point, and just generally very dwarfy and saves chest space

sunstones are not used for rebuilding the lights in the purple mist, the blue stones are along with granite, the more you light the weaker the debuff (or so it seems it still needs testing), also Orcs hate them so I make a med campfire and place down the pallets for resources, then break the campfire after marking the location as resources. That way Orcs will not break the resource pallets. Also, if you overlap hearths, they all connect to resources in other hearths including chests

There are abakhs or w.e that you can make that reduce the despair affect, also items you can craft that restore hp over time, eventually as well you can craft durins armor that reduces the effect of the shadow

The hearths overlap so you can have crafting materials on the complete opposite side of your base from the forge, covered by a separate hearth and it’ll still pull what you need. Also raids will spawn in gaps not covered by a hearth, learned this building in the first great forge, had set up a base and they all spawned inside lol

See when I have tried to overlap them. If the box is outside of one of the overlaps you cannot use the ones on the inside of the other Hearth to craft from. If you understand what Im saying.

@@SovereignRPG I understand but not sure why you’re having that issue, I built in Narvis great forge early on using about 5 or 6 of the biggest stone hearths to get coverage of the whole area without having that issue, chests by the statue on the left as your facing the furnace and could build all the way out to the entrance multiple hearths away.

You can use rope ladders if you attach them to the wood platforms. also the best main base location in my opinion is Durins forge, Best looking room and as a bonus base raids are bugged so nobody will spawn and break everything, i know its a little ways down the road but so much room for activitys. you should probably put down a few farms outside your camp in the meantime. youll reach a better camp soon(not the one with no walls)

I tried using the rope ladders and they just kept falling even though it was completely attached :S Not sure whats up with that. I cant wait to find that room. I got some farms down yesterday luckily but still working out how they work :D

The only thing that can ward of the despair is the “pale hope” buff that you can get from brew from a ranger journal. Not even a hearth will help against it in the darkest deeps. I build a Teleport when i reach the floor so i can get in & out fast. Shadow curse you can fight of with abakhs & later theres a special armor against it😊

You can make resolve abakh it cleans the shadow off you. I think once the shadow is gone the despair goes as well.

@@SovereignRPG Your welcome the cleaning one is for poison. Also I think you had some shadow in your darkest deep I did not have as much a plain torches were good for me. When you see the abakh don't leave them I got about 14 poison and a few resolve's ones from boxes and mobs. if it's just few I use them if I don't have room in my inventory. Some are for power and stam also. There is something in the darkest deep if you go far back so be careful going back down there lol

You do not have it in your hand it has to be in one hand to combat the darkness, you'll find out why it dangerous down there, also great source for rubies and even black diamonds.

@@SovereignRPG Heh.. yup. Welcome to the Darkest Deeps. No light can penetrate there. No light will help you. Theres only one or two brews that will stave off the despair but nothing can prevent it. Its a High Risk High Reward kind of deal c:

the darkest deeps always give despair (its were the nameless ones roam) so nothing helps down there (or atleast when i played through the game) just after it came out. there is no way to remove despair from those zones u just gotta take tons of food. there was talk of a buff that helped reduce it but it never worked for me.

The darkest deeps is a waste of time. You can get the ores and mithril from plenty of other places without going in to the deeps. There is no way to stop dispair. You either top up your life bar or die.
