During the Soviet war in Afghanistan in 1979-1989, Serhiy Titunov's job as a soldier was finding and seizing U.S.-made Stinger missiles being used by Afghan mujahedin resistance. Now Titunov is fighting for Ukraine, using his experience with shoulder-fired rockets to target Russian aircraft himself.

Ever see that video of the Chechen War guys who are begging one another not to fight before the battle? They were comrades back in Afghanistan but had to fight in Grozny. 😢 One of the saddest videos I’ve ever seen knowing they both die afterwards.

Well, he isnt using them against former comrades. He is using them against Russia. During his time in the army he was likely a Soviet from what they then called "the Ukraine", a forced part of the Soviet empire. However, he could theoretically be firing on the sons of former army friends, although it is unlikely due to the numbers involved.

I'm Ukrainian so I have relatives that are in the Ukrainian army but they are not professional soldiers they were called up when the war started, a lot of them say that they learn how to use a lot of the weapons by watching KZbin videos. Because there is such a variation of different weapons that it would take forever to teach new recruits how to use 5 different AT weapons and multiple different AA weapons so they are forced to learn some of the weapons in the field. This is a war like no other, fueled by KZbin and drones.

He reminds me of this guy I worked with in Mosul during the currency exchange in the early days of OIF. Guy was a local security lead but also a lifer in the Republican Guard. He had fought in the Iran/Iraq war, then against the Kurds during their uprising, and later he fought us in the Gulf War. Guy got lit up in almost every conflict he fought in but kept at it, a real bad ass. He was even the soul survivor from his tank during The Battle of Medina Ridge. Loved to show new guys all his scars, one in the left leg from Iran, one in the right leg from the Kurds, and some scars across his belly where he got lit up by US Marines in the Gulf War. Guy was hilarious and genuinely fun to work with. He'd rib both the Kurds he worked with as well as us constantly saying stuff like, "Yeah I can do that shift as long as you two don't shot me again." Just a genuinely good dude who always kept the positive vibes going and was just full of real world battlefield experience & wisdom.

In April 1941, the Banderites officially adopted salutation "Slava Ukraini - Geroyam slava" (Glory to Ukraine - Glory to the heroes). Later on, they publicly announced that they are allies to the Nazi German army, then committed Jewish pogroms in Lvov and massacres in Volhynia. I feel kinda guilty now. I'm a former Stinger missile tech. I figured jeez I'm 55 years old and 55 lbs. fatter than I should be. But so is our hero.

- Greetings from Ukraine! 💙💛 - Thank you for a good and informative video on such an important topic for the English-speaking audience!......... P.S.: - Ukraine is now defending not only itself, but also the entire democratic world. Because, as you remember, Putin said that NATO should roll back, as he wants, to the borders of 1997. Because he, Putin, wants to conquer all the countries of the former Soviet Union and the Warsaw bloc (Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, etc.) - The only way to stop the war started by the Russians is to sufficiently arm the Ukrainian army, to throw out the Russian occupiers of 1991 borders, and to give Ukraine the opportunity to join NATO and the EU. Only this will stop the Russian killers now in future times!...... - So, in order to speed up peace time and the victory of Ukraine, and the entire Democratic World in general, over the Russian fascist occupiers and the expulsion of the Russian occupiers from Ukraine, so that they, the Russians, no longer have the opportunity to kill us, Ukrainians, we ask you, if possible, your channel, to make a mention in your next videos the need to supply Ukraine with F-16. Giving Ukraine F-16 will accelerate the expulsion of the bloody Russian invaders from Ukraine, and will save the lives of many Ukrainian civilians..... N.B.: - From Ukraine with love, hope for a quick victory and faith in freedom, Your subscribers! 💙💛 - Ukraine will join NATO, Ukraine will join the EU! Ukraine and the entire Democratic World will win!

There are for sure former Soviet army members in Russian army. So former Soviet army members fight with each other. Often with equipment built in Soviet era meant for fighting against capitalists. Such stories in eastern europe.

Its funny too, He's the same trainer who mentioend they're losing soldiers way too quickly, they only have 3 - 5 weeks / days to train before they get sent forward, in his qoute towards it in a headling in the leaked documents from NATO "Everytime i see more go out i know they're going to die, they need months to prepare yet we are only giving them days to weeks of readying before they go. Every soldier i see is a replacement of the last one i saw."

Now that he fired a Stinger in anger, he now knows why the Afghans value it. It's leagues better than its Soviet counterpart, the Igla.
