Very easy to relax and enjoy your videos. Good natured, fun Russian woman who enjoys life and gets on well with pretty much anyone. Your video brings back memories. I went to some Soviet style canteen/café in a nice, large parkland area when I was in Moscow. Like the last one in your video but not as elaborate. Can't remember what park exactly but the food was very good, healthy and a super bargain.

Maybe you were on the other side of the park. In the video, this is the central area of the park, with playgrounds and rides, further it is surrounded by wild forest for miles. It's really huge.

@@user-oh7sx8qr4t Not sure. The park in the video looked similar. I was driven there rather than catching the metro so this is why I can't remember where it was. The atmosphere and food was great. I remember beetroot was on the plate mixed in with a nice salad. Some type of pierogi that was not actually what I understand is pierogi. Great soup. Bit cooler than now - September 1999 - so quite some time ago.

This is so cool too see and you're the only You Tuber that has ever done a video on this subject. Oh yes, I distinctly remember seeing this type of restaurants and bars in old Soviet movies where Russian people would eat and drink standing up. I actually thought the Soviet government purposely made customers stand and not sit was so that they would not hang around talking long after they were finished eating and drinking, as well as get rid of anyone that was too intoxicated to stand on their own two feet.

Wonderful video LIsa. That was good to see Danny. He definitely isn't bald. His hairstyle reminds me of the character Winston Smith in the film of George Orwell's '1984' that was made in 1984. '1984' takes place in England in the years after a communist-style revolution. So I couldn't help making that connection when you were going round the Soviet-era restaurants.

RLY? It seems to me that you haven't even read the novel. After WW2, a civil war broke out in Britain, after which it was absorbed by a new world superpower - Oceania, which united North and South America. There is not a single mention of "communist-style revolution" in the novel. 🤦♂
@keithbessantАй бұрын
@@user-oh7sx8qr4t OK maybe my comment was a bit sloppy. Yes, it's not set in Britain or England. The new territory which is part of Oceania is called 'Airstrip One'. No, the novel doesn't mention communism, but there are clear parallels between the totalitarian world of '1984' and Big Brother, where the Party reigns supreme and the way contemporaries viewed the regime of Stalin in the USSR. It's a long time since I've read it. So there wasn't a revolution, just a civil war and a takeover by forces from outside that led to the regime coming to power. OK thank you for the information.
