you do technically have the shoulder boards and the collar tabs for it but it’s the subdued version that is usually used during combat you just needs the pins for what ever division you are portraying

The Gp-5 is a civilian gasmask, I belive GP stands for Gospodin Protivogaz or Civilian Gasmask, but I may be incorrect there. The correct mask to use is the SCHM-41.

No close schm-41 is a German copy. The mask they would use with that would be one of these 3, shm-41, pmg, or, pmg-2

Instead of the gp5 you should go with a pmk or pmg they were made for infantry the gp5 was a civilian mask

I know I am late, but the GP-5 first wasn't even a military madk but a civilian one and it was also developed after ww2 I believe that in 1970+. One more thing asbestos is not a chemical. It's more like fibers that atach to your lungs and never go out If you breathe it in( they got it by mining). At that time it was fairly saf edue to the filter being new and not decomposing. Awesone video by the way.

I don't recommend wearing the mask during airsoft unless you are military trained. If your lungs aren't strong enough you will lose breath really fast.

Use a pmg for a military mask, the gp5 is a civilian mask and Jesus Christ don’t use ANY original filter because they can possibly contain asbestos (there is no way to find out) and yes, it will kill you slowly and painfully from asbestos poisoning

How many magazine pouches did they typically carry for AK mags? If they only hold three mags with one in the rifle, for a total of 4 magazines, that seems a bit low considering that the Soviets were trained to fire bursts on Full Auto. When I was in the US Army, we typically carried six mags on our load-bearing equipment with one in the rifle. We were trained to fire semi-auto in most situations. For suppressive fire, we used burst.

From the photos I've seen, they only have one pouch for 3 AK mags, later getting pouches for 4. During the Soviet-Afghan War this was a problem for Soviet soldiers do they often improvised ways to hold more ammo, like taking the padding out of life vests to hold magazines instead, looting Chinese chest rigs from the Mujahedeen, and some may have even made their own chest rigs.

Very nice job on the video but there is a problem you don't have the veshmoshock you need a veshmoshock or so called a russian backpack to hold your supplies in and theres a post war one and a ww2 one get the one with the loops on the side to put the plash polantka and theres a poket on the outside also.

Very cool! I'm looking for an actual kit for airsoft and this is something I'm looking towards doing. I do have a few questions: one, how would you wash the main uniform? Do you hand wash or use a washing machine and dryer? Two, how does the helmet hold up in an airsoft match? Will it dent or chip after being hit by a bb? And finally, how much would you say you spent on the kit. I think this is really cool and I want to do something like this.

1. You could probably use a washing machine, but i prefer to hand wash. 2. No the helmet does great. I wear it all the time. sometimes it scuffs but you can usually run it off 3. i’d say i spent around $200, but you can find it for much cheaper.

I did an impression with this exact uniform, and a guy told me that you do not wear the helmet with this uniform and you use the brass shiny belt buckle. This goes against all my research, do you know whether he is simply wrong or trying to say something else?
