So much for "Soviet simplicity". Makes the Mk. 2 look ingenious

Definitely didn't make it easy on themselves

Dang!! Ive been in the market for one of these. Your vids are better than Xmas gifts! Happy holidays to you, and may more handgrenades come your way .......LOL!

Thanks, to you too. Yeah I bought this one, and found out after there were 2 being sold for much less by an individual on a forum. Oh well. Interesting grenade. Hope you find one.

Damn, this is so overengineered for a single use grenade... What a weird and overcomplicated way to prime it. It's so bad, I unironically think that replacing the handle with a Mosin bolt /w trigger would simplify production at this point (pull the trigger to arm the fuse and then throw it). No wonder they transitioned into F-1 and RG-42 as fast as they could.

Interesting to see the evolution of some of these one time use weapons.

@@Stray03 I wholeheartedly agree. It's interesting to see all the designs made to fulfill a specified role. Not everything we today perceive as easy / simple was like that back in the day. It's interesting to see what designs each country adopted, especially when their take on that construction is different from others. It's also interesting to see what designs stayed in use for a long time, got improved & simplified, and what designs got dropped after their trial by fire highlighted all the issues.

This was designed in the thirties, and one of the main concerns was avoiding unintended detonations, and a little overingeneering is an acceptable cost.

That was pretty complicated grenade to produce I guess, no wonder they were replaced later in the war. Thanks for the video.

Definitely. Quite a bit of material needed to produce a single use object.

Just like the german M24 Stielhandgranate, the weirdest thing is that they bothered to carve the hole in the wooden handle to make it hollow, for pullstring, when later in war they realised that you could simplify it and started to produce M43 Stielhandgranate.@@Stray03

Yeah... That wasn't confusing at all. I prob would've 86'd myself some time after step 2. 🤦♂️💥🥔

Lol, it is one of those things that in a good setting, nice and relaxed makes a lot of sense and is "easy". I figure if you have been out in the "real world" it is something that can easily go wrong. Much like assembling the bolt on a Ross rifle isn't that tough to do, but if you are in shitty conditions you will make mistakes and hurt yourself when you go to pull the trigger.

While complicated for sure, I have to admire the fact that it doesn't arm fully until you fling it. Should help stop something happening should you get hit while holding it causing you to fall back into your trench with the boys. But no game I've played simulates it correctly. They all just pull a cord like on the German one.

Yeah even good games screw up many of the ww2 weapons. The amount of times a panzerfaust is shown as a rocket in a game is rediculous.

fail rate ?

I'm sure the numbers exist somewhere but I have no idea.
