42 - Soviet coaches must have a coaching degree with the same curriculum
05 - kids had to pass gymnastic, bodyweight exercise, bridging tests
15 - first year, 40% of the practice should be gymnastics and wrestling related gymnastics
52 - the importance of a system/curriculum
30- importance of standardized terminology
45 - you must know all the moves; not necessarily use them all
41 - Coach makes the athletes, not the other way around
59 - athlete-coach relationship is different; staying with the same coach
24- learn gymnastics before wrestling
19 - bridging
43 - teach duck under first
43- wouldn’t recommend teaching penetration step right away
27- not good long term to be on knees
05 - throws
48 - first few years defense
22 - first few years teach kids everything; learn A-B-C’s of wrestling
20 - down block to shot; one hand inside at all times
00 - I told Aaron Pico not to sprawl; always pressure forward
26 - creating pressure and establishing contact first
11 - throwing rocks and bungis (bands)

Gene, awesome conversation, thank you for making it happen with Valentin, I’ve been reading about this stuff for over 25 years, my dad grew up in Romania in the 60s and he experienced the same upbringing when it came to sport and physical preparation, it’s crazy, how in America we refuse to implement the style of training with the younger generation

In all of my 44 years of wrestling coaching and strength coaching my athletes, of every sport, would do tumbling and gymnastics training in athletic warmup.

A transcript of this conversation would be fantastic -- not because he's difficult to understand (he's not), but because it's so content-rich.
