I read about the Eastern Front battles from British military historians, I just watched the first 7 hours of this, episodes 1-9 starting with Barbarossa and ending with the Battle of Kursk. Very well done. They glossed over few of the unpleasantries of the early war, and frankly disclosed the Russian failures. I am impressed with this series.

Interesting and informative. Excellent photography job making it easier for viewers to better understand what the orator was describing. Historians did a very good job presenting actual facts from fiction. Class A research project!!! Rough fierce combat operations on both sides. Who fought/perished/survived knowing certain death/debilitating wounds were often possible. Special special thanks to general Zhukov who persuaded stubborn Stalin to allow him. To finish the conquest of Berlin his way. Either way the war for Germany was over.

It’s funny how the Russians fought the German Nazis in ww2 and today are fighting nazi Ukraine. So we nato countries support nazi Ukraine today against our old allies of ww2. Crazy to think we are supporting what my grandfather fought to stop. I’ve never seen anything in my 42 years of life like the amount of dead/wounded nazi Ukrainians. It’s mind blowing tbh. In 2 months of counter offensive nazi Ukraine has lost 40,000 men and the wounded must be treble that. Slava Russia 🇬🇧❤️🇷🇺

Russian productions are suppressed in the West. There is an excellent Soviet-produced WW2 series hosted by Bert Lancaster called "The Unknown War"; it's similar to the BBC's "World at War" series, but with the emphasis on the Soviet front, where 80% of the Wehrmacht's casualties occurred. This series appeared once on U.S. public broadcasting, and was never seen again in the Western media. Nor was it even mentioned. If you are familiar with cinematographers, the series was directed by Roman Karman - among the best directors in the world.

Exceptionally well done series. And, the section on the "Secret Services" was just riveting! There is no doubt, it was Russia who turned the tide of WWII. All of it in Stalingrad. Then came Kursk if anyone questioned Stalingrad. Marshall Zhukov's Generalship was a deciding factor in both battles. What an incredibly brave army. Unfortunately, they were more driven by fear than by commitment. Although a great majority fought for the "Motherland" more than anything else. No Country suffered the losses that the Soviet Union did. 27.5 million was the final tally gleaned from a couple of other Documentaries. Even the German's did not even lose half what the Soviet Union lost. It is a little frustrating to watch the first thousand miles the Nazi's invasion. Regardless of how stunned Stalin was, he should have turned it over to his Generals, maybe a good million fewer Russian deaths might have happened.

Many children went to the front as volunteers in the partisans, those who were not allowed, they deliberately overestimated their age. So stop listening to cnn about the fear of Soviet citizens. Those who were driven by fear surrendered without a fight, others simply went over to Hitler's side by joining Vlasov's army.

“Deciding factor” at Kursk was the information provided by the Lucy Spy Ring run from Bletchley Park which told the Soviets exactly where and when the Germans would launch their offensive several weeks in advance. Also, where do you suppose the steel for all those T34s came from?

1:38:20 infantryman /Luftwaffe fighter pilot Ace *Günter Rall* claimed 275 🛫💥💥💥✈ 🙃's. He was the 3rd best for them DamNazi's. We have the privilege to see Gunter interviewed in some of the best WW2 documentaries ever available. We see him interviewed along with many of the Allied Fly-boy hero's that would hang out with Gunter after the war. Id reccomend checking out any doc he is in. But take caution. Many WWii nutts like myself will find it difficult not to like Gunter a lil. These videos are put together very well. They are very educational & very entertaining. As we are the first with internet access, I believe it is our generations duty to spread true information on this war. So many young ppl are completely unaware of how much tragedy & suffering took place during this time. This can never be repeated. So Please Share. Thanks for the 🆙️ Load.

Still watching, amazing how dogged the Soviet navy were in ensuring that ships such as the Wilhem Gustloff seeking to rescue Germans (Admittedly carrying military personnel) from the tender mercies of the Soviet army were attacked and sunk with great loss of life. Certainly the captains were true heroes of the Soviet Union.

Your stupidity is not amazing just sad that the propaganda has you so blinded by what is really happening. The real fighting in the Ukraine started on May 2nd 2014 when 42 people died in the Trade Unions House fire in Odesa, and 200 were injured, the fire was set by Ukraine Azov or Nazi's, and has people jumped from the burning building they were beaten, some beaten to death by your beloved Azovs who you support. This was when the war in the Ukraine started and just like that summers day in 1943 it was the people of Eastern Ukraine who suffered at the hands of Nazis, and just like 1943 the Russian army mobilised to destroy those Nazi forces.
