My Florets arrived today and I'm super excited to get them into the cut flower beds. I'm on the Mid North Coast in NSW and have Zinnia's coming up that I sowed 3 days ago, so I'm going to direct sow and see how we go.

Super excited to be a couple of weeks behind you in New Zealand but ready to do exactly the same thing! Precious seeds, so it’s good to just have reminders of all the things we need to think about and what you might be doing differently this time/Vs normal.

Hi Amber, thank you for this video. I am waiting on my Floret delivery and I am a bit more confident sowing them when they arrive in WA. I can’t wait to see how they all go.

Hi Amber, I'm so excited to share this experience of growing Floret Zinnias and Celosia with a fellow Victorian Aussie. Im on the Mornington Peninsula also a temperate zone. I fall in cold zone 10 and heat zone 4. I suppose you can direct sow regular zinnia seeds and see how they go before sowing your $$$ seed zinnia. PS I enjoy your regular updates, reminding me when to sow and plant out. Thanks

Thanks for sharing, it will be interesting to see how you go too. I was actually thinking last night I might direct sow a lot of my normal zinnias, to save on time and space, because I have a lot of Floret ones 😂

Wow - it's much too early for me to sow those summery flowers! I keep pushing my summer flowers later and later, but I'm up at elevation. Good luck with them Amber - I can't wait to see those zinnias 🎉 I guess you'll be saving seed from them lol !

Hi Alison. How high up are you? We are about 400 metres above sea level. I’m always unsure of my tender annual sowing, but technically I’m in time with my last frost date. Last year I was a bit late, the year before too early. Doesn’t help every season is different 😂
@alisonburgess3454 ай бұрын
@@bloomsonthehill6207 About 720 up. The soil temp is still way too cold (6 or 7 degrees - but climbing). We could still get frosts for sure. I've just learnt that if I put seedlings out too early, they just sit there and never really get going. It kills me, but I just HAVE to wait.. This year I'll extend into April ..

Love your videos Amber. Have you ever tried using heat mats for germination when heat is required? I find them excellent.
@bloomsonthehill62074 ай бұрын
Hi Jane, thank you, that’s very kind of you to say. I haven’t tried heat mats. I need to look into the cost. If my flower operation got bigger I definitely would. Thanks for the advice! 😊

Mine finally turned up yesterday 🎉 being in Queensland i am going to try direct sowing so but like you am soooo nervous about getting them to start.

Ooo you’re brave! Although I’m sure they will be perfectly fine. Hope they are beautiful!

I'm in Qld too and I direct sowed some of my floret zinnias last week. I have had almost perfect germination and apart from slug issues they are doing great so far.
@samk54553 ай бұрын
@chantaln3749 thanks for the confidence boost. I normally direct seed my zinnias but at $30 a packet I am a bit cagey and worried about loosing them

My Floret Dahlia seeds have started to germinate in NSW near Newcastle ...leaving Zinneas for a few weeks.

That’s exciting! Some of my Floret zinnias have popped through! They’re in my toasty warm lounge room enjoying the wood fire.
