Sempervivum can look totally nice - I have only a balcony but I have a few pots and some years they are so decorative! They tend to dieback after flowering and yeah the menace birds do raid them now and then. Think magpies usually.

I love them, and yes being monocarpic, the hen will die off once she's flowered, but her chicks will continue to grow and eventually have their own chicks 😊

Okay, Nigel premiere is over..🤣🤣..time for Semps.....ive got several small varieties as accent plants...👍❤️🌵 never had any success with seeds, so I cut off the babies and plant them...

Not at all familiar with Sempervivum so this was of interest to me. Every day is a school day 😂 And having checked them out on Google I now recognise David has several of them growing in the conservatory amongst the many cacti and succulents 👍

These are quite slow growing from seeds then. I guess for proagating them its better to have chicks?
