With the rise of eWallet payments in Malaysia, customers are constantly greeted by a whole host of different QR codes when they want to make payments. DuitNow QR is supposed to solve that, and act as a "universal" QR code of sorts. But how does it work? What is it exactly? And who is PayNet? This means the cross border QR Codes are exclusive to SEA bank users, since travellers from the UK would not have access to the local banks here and their UK bank doesn’t recognise our cross border QR Code feature on their banks app. They would end up still using either Bank Card / ApplePay / Samsung or Cash.

My question to Khairuan, I am a merchant who has adopted DuitNow QR last month. Let say my customer has entered incorrect payment amount, for now the only way is to refund using cash, that is extremely inconvenient if I do not have enough small change with me. What e-payment method that I can adopt to refund on the spot, without using cash or getting my Accounting team to refund via e-banking?

Duit now qr is easier for microseller. Just need to show the qr code. Apple pay requires more preparation by seller. Applepay only caters to apple users, qr codes can be used by all. Going cashless should be about making as easy as possible for all to use

If there is an internet problem or power outage or if you thing what and when you buy is not the banks or e-wallets business, if you value your privacy, cash is king. E-payment makes you financially "naked" in public. You don't know who can read your payments.
