To make things simple, all public AC chargers must be 22kW minimum. If for your home, put 22kW if your house has three phase and 7.4kW if your house is only single phase

Only few cars can draw 22kW AC charging currently on the market. At the end of the day it depends on your car onboard charger. The so called charger is actually EVSE, the actual charger is in your car for AC

Some cars have 3 separate onboard chargers for 3 phases. So, when doing 3 phase at 16A, all 3 are active. But if you give it 1 phase 32A, it combines 2 chargers via internal contactor. But to save money, some cheap cars have just 1 32A onboard charger.

My BYD Seal 2024 charges 5.3 ~ 5.7 kw on a 6kw 30a charger, 220V, single phase. The max charge power for this Seal model is 16 kw. So, the video explanation makes sense. 5.3 * 3 phases charger = 16kw. I've also tried at 22kw 200A charger, 3 phases, the speed was 16kw. Thank you for the video.

I have found that the BYD intelligent cooling system fan and water pump start up very fast when I use faster DC charging, particularly if I have been driving my ATTO 3 for several hours. I prefer to find a charging station with a lower rate of charging if I am out. When I am at home, I either use the BYD 8 amp charger, or the 32 amp charger I installed, depending on how quickly I want to charge. If I have time overnight, I would rather charge with the 8 amp charger because it is better for the battery. The slower the charge the cooler the battery. Also, part of the reason you will often get fewer kWs in the battery than the charging rate shows is that some of the charge goes to running the 12-volt systems to help cool the battery. Today when I was charging with my 32 amp charger, it said I added 36.8 kW, but my car said it only used 32.7 kW. The other 4.1 kW went to running the car's systems.

so eV capable for 3 phase is better? as they can use all 1 phase and 3 phase charger at optimum level?
@soyacincautv
@soyacincautv Жыл бұрын
This is one aspect to look for in an EV. Generally, three-phase on-board charger is better than a single phase one. But you should also consider things like battery (size and technology) as well as DC charging. In the case of the BYD Dolphin, some of the advantages are: It uses BYD's Blade battery: The Blade battery is based on lithium-ion phosphate. This battery is safer, has a higher energy density and has a better lifespan. It also can be charged to 100% more regularly than other EV batteries. DC charging: The Dolphin Dynamic Standard can DC charge up to 60kW while the Premium Extended can charge up to 80kW. This can charge the Dolphin from 10 - 80% in 35 and 30 minutes. Overall efficiency: The BYD Dolphin is one of the most efficient EVs we've tested. This means you don't have to charge it often especially when travelling long distances.

You have to apply with TNB and justify and you would only want to do this if you're installing a DC fast charger. For AC charging, a typical home power setup is more than adequate, just that if you house is single phase, you may want to upgrade to a 3-phase power supply.

@@soyacincautv Do residential houses in Malaysia have a very high power input? I am in China, the electricity power of a single household is single-phase 220V/40-50A, which is not enough to install a 7-11KW EV charging box, so most users would install a second cable and electricity mete specifically for EV charging.

It depends on the charge point operator. Some charge by time (per hour or per minute) or per kWh. kWh-based calculation is a fairer way to charge as you only pay based on what you use and not how long your car is plugged in. If the charger is priced by time, it is more worth it for cars that can receive higher 11kW or 22kW.

Hi Soya Cincau, I am looking to get an EV and could you explain the memberships that we have in our EV infrastructure in Malaysia For example I frequet Suway Pyramid and I see that there are Gentari Chargers like what you are using in your video But I also see the same exact Gentari Chargers in CharEV.. Won't be getting a BMW/Mini EV So for my situation, should I be subscribe to ChargEV's memberships, jomcharge or just use Setel? Thanks!!
@soyacincautv
@soyacincautv 9 ай бұрын
Hi. It depends on which charger you use more often. For Gentari, the membership which costs RM899/year gives 50% off on all chargers. This is great if you often use a Gentari charger and plan to do lots of long distance trips. Their DC charger is effectively RM0.75 per kWh with the membership. For ChargEV, the previous highlight was unlimited free charging using the card. However, most of these chargers are slowly being discontinued in favour for pay per use. With ChargEV membership, you get a slightly cheaper rate than non-members. The discount is not as significant as Gentari's 50% off.

At 170kw/h it takes you at least 1/2 hour to go from 20% to 80%. HYDROGEN FUEL CELL TAKES YOU FIVE MINUTES TO GO FROM 0 TO 100%. @petertraveller6421
@petertraveller6421 Жыл бұрын
Maybe hydrogen is faster to fill up, but don't forget what is the price for this faster fill up, Björn Nyland has a video where he refill Toyota Mirai in Norway, price for refill was 85 euros. And hydrogen car is also electric car, Björn said that can drive 600 km with 1 tank, if you don't go too fast, BUT when you take your speed up to 120 km/h highway speed, Mirai can only go 400 km with 1 tank of hydrogen, so 1000 km cost about 212 euros. I don't have so much money to waste, with EV 60 euros is enough for same trip. 1 extra bonus, hydrogen car cost about 70 to 80 thousand euros, and if fuelcell breaks after warranty, it can be anything between 40 to 100 thousand euros to replace. So EV is much better to average person 's wallet. Example Hyundai ioniq 5 can charge 10% to 80% in 18 minutes, hydrogen is not so much faster.

@@chjin1796 why wait for 30 minutes? why insists on charge to 80%? next time u park somewhere there is chargers available there. no need to let charging change your routine. that is the beauty of having vast charging network. charging speed becomes less important.
