Spa Comeback Ruined By My First Crash in Clio Cup

Second race of my Renault Clio Cup Europe Series at Spa.
After bad qualify in extreme difficult conditions my comeback got ruined... well you have to see for yourself! Who do you blame? :)

You are used to drive in a very competitive Esports enviorment with people who have great skill and racecraft in the sim but when you jump into entry level racing in real life many of the drivers will not present similar skillsets in real conditions. Specially on SPA, drive in IRL like you went into some crazy Assetto Corsa 1 open public lobby full of all different levels and even some rammers. Practice there for real life. That guy bumped you a few times already you should be expecting him to use you as his shield in case of understeer. I could see the excitement of the battle and overtaking not loosing time etc... if you were inside he would have understeered outside the track all by himself. Great video man. Great racing, just unlucky with that guy.

Yeah Im happy as it wasnt major damage AND i was really pushing forward at that point! So DNFing while going forward and fight is much better than drive last for me :)

Yeah you also were in wet line towards braking so it was easier for me but you could have shut me off track but you were nice to race with as it should be 🤩🤩🤩

This is the true dream of any virtual driver. Thanks for the opportunity to watch. It's exciting. About the accident, I'm not so experienced, far from it, but when I find another guy who shows he isn't a great driver, at least in those conditions (lost apex, driving wide in dry, too slow...), I take more precautions, I have some fear. On the next straight, you would pass him easily from a better turn exit. Congrats on what you are doing, and for the beautiful overtakes, and thanks for sharing.

common mistake even on track days :) realised he braked too early, then let off the brake and it was over :) not your fault at all. Usually the apex on the inside comes on really fast :) He had plenty of room.

Some drivers just don't like to be overtaken. If he had wet tyres then that's on him. Seemed like you got punished for his bad choices. He did not want you getting the better of him as he came back at you twice. Great overtakes though Jardier. Nice work.

Definetly not Your fault. You've seen this guy miss the apex almost every corner. It would be probably be a better call to wait for the next mistake and go for the inside, but it's easy to say now. Nevertheless You've had a great pace, a lot of amazing overtakes. I would love to see where You end up if You finished the race. Keep on fighting 💪

Yeah mate! ITs really hard to punch top15 in the clio cup europe but I think Im on very good path! It takes a long time to "master" how to drive this type of car my teammate told me it took him 2 years to understand it but Im on good way :)

I know how frustrating it can be to look back at footage and think "maybe if I did XYZ it would've been better", happens to me a lot with kart racing. Ultimately though making split second decisions into a heavy braking zone, sometimes things happen, and you have to move on. Super unlucky man, hopefully next time goes better.

This is exactly my experience when I bottle the qualy in LFM and have to start the race further back. Also strange the track doesn't have an escape road at the end of the gravel trap, nowhere to go.

Wow, some great overtakes, definitely had the pace. Not much to be done from your end about the incident, definitely not your fault; as someone said, you can't just sit behind a slower driver who is defending hard on the corners... All part of the journey, keep it up!

that was just unfortunate, hard to say more than "unlucky" without 2nd car onboard, and once you were in the gravel thats pretty much it, the only chance too get out was to turn right immediately to avoid grass, but I doubt the car would even turn, nice to see you take positives from it, its a steep learning curve, enjoy every moment of it

Seeing how he struggled already earlier, there was a high chance of more mistakes happening. Obviously you had your own race to drive, so you can't just sit there behind a slower car waiting if they might make a mistake. Unfortunate how it happened, but nothing really you could do in that situation. And definitely no way out of the grass at that point xD

Woof! It seemed like you had the line. He ended up wide, and there you were. Could you even see him? You handled it with grace and poise. Do the drivers talk with each other over a beer after something like that? Anyway, no knowing what was going on in other guys race. No major harm done and you get more experience. Totally not your fault. In hindsight, trying to overtake him going into the turns was riskier than just sitting behind him at corner entry, waiting for him to lose grip, then just overtaking him as he understeers and misses the apex. Difficult decision I imagine. Tough choices. You’re the man though. Keep up the great work

Nothing you could have done. You was just racing and that comes with putting trust in your opponents. And sometimes, they make the mistakes and theres nothing you can change on your part. What a great race up to that point though! Definitely showing some driver wisdom with pushing for the slicks. And it paid off!

20:33 was an instant decision moment that no training can prepare you for. It is amazing how fast our minds can assess a situation and find a solution at critical times. Jardier I think you will get a laugh from my instant decision story that follows. I once had an instant decision driving moment that to this day, how I avoided destruction is a miracle. It really happened. I was going 45 approaching a left turn. I took my eye off the road for a moment. Thought I was following the turn. Felt a bump. My thoughts and what happened next was so fast. Oh I'm going off the road into a very deep ditch with a driveway crossing over it ahead 100ft away. Hitting that will destroy my front end. I need to get the wheel/car out of the ditch. Getting it back on the road can't be done in time. The car's momentum is going to the right. I''ll use it to climb out of the ditch. I turned right. It worked. Now I hope that huge hedge that I'm going to hit won't be bad. LMAO. It did launch the right side up quite a bit. Took out a mail box on the other side. In the end? A dent from the mail box and slight wheel realignment. I was really lucky. Like you were lucky.

First of all, I think the other driver could have avoided that if he had a little more restraint, I noticed in some not all of the corners you are anticipating the corner a little early and sometimes having to correct on the apex or on the push out mostly but I see you improving every lap maybe that will help you? I really do think you could be the best you have what it takes, great run out Jardier thanks for the vid!

Yeah the steering was because the track was half wet and half dry, so there was a bit of problem with grip as you can see in opening laps just being careful :)

Hopefully the other driver learns when the position is lost and that a car on the outside isn't just a guardrail to try and keep him on the track.

What I saw was a JCL last-to/first challenge, honestly. :-) Good job getting through the field. The collision was unfortunate - the other guy clearly missjudged braking capabilities of his car in these conditions.
