One of very few comments ever for me on any platform. Thank you. The way u make these videos on sight is spectacular. I’m subscribed and I like most of your videos. In my daily, life your vids reassure me and they actually bring value. They help with understanding why so much of my money needs to cover your work. And , maybe I can see that I was wrong in choosing that placement, or product, or whatever intangible in your video. Bravo 👏🏽. from California

isn't the equipotential grid not required if its a self contained listed tub per 680.42(B)?
@electvolt678 ай бұрын
that is true....depends on the height of the tub and if there is conductive steps to get in. He also used the existing panel to feed through the AC unit....you must remove it from one panel and install in the other.

Awesome video and great info because ALOT OF people want spas after the concrete 🤦🏽♂️ here in California

Great video with info! @2:20 I'd love to hear and see more about diff of Potential. Interesting @3:43 regarding people pouring cement before conduit/wires are ran. @4:44 interesting and nice of you to have him do that. In Greenwich, CT it's taking over 6mths to get a permit to install a Whole House Generator and a trench to a dock. Everything is done online and taking longer thanks to Covid

WeatherNut27 ... am also in lower Ct and just retired from the gen business before Covid so have only heard about (not experienced) the long delay in the permit process, other than the usual for zoning variances. There must be something fairly new in the local code for steel in a gen pad, but likely based on size. (depth of the concrete) Obviously a pad without steel can't be bonded. The flip side here is the typical generator in Greenwich is probably over 30 kw so any new pads will have steel in them.

counting 8 months for the septic here in central Texas. Nuts.

@@rupe53 Interesting. Thanks! This particular one is also in a flood zone so it needs to be up higher

@@WeatherNut27 ... sounds as if it's near the shore and a high tide situation. (storm tide) Have run into many and some generators are over 5 ft above ground level, which makes servicing a royal pain.

Hi joshua, could you ask your SEO guy if he can improve your audio so i can hear you as a podcast while im driving. You do an incredible job, we tahnk you!!

Canadian here. Ive never heard of this equipotential grounding unless it's a substation. Are you having to bond or ground the rebar in the concrete?

How do you price out these jobs with some unknowns? Is it just T&M or a large enough price to cover you?
@DanielinLaTuna2 жыл бұрын
When you traced out the circuit from the sub-panel around to the spa box, you called it a disconnect, but then you came back and called it the GFCI breaker. In California, do we need a separate (knife switch style) disconnect, or is the breaker enough? Thanks for sharing.
@electvolt678 ай бұрын
On a single family residence you only need a disconnect within view of the tub.
@samfrancisco8095Ай бұрын
Why don't you go up and under the eave and then down to disconnect to avoid water intrusion and potential damage?

The videos are the most detailed, not to mention he is even referencing the for the code. God protect us , Safety number 1, if you dont have sense (enuff) to use PPE, dont watch please!!! Leave the information for those of us who can use it!!

Good references yes..... Detailed...... He kinda speaks in a way that only experienced electricians would understand. I think he could be more descriptive actually.

Do you need grounding around a hot tub if it is a plug in tub with a GFIC receptacle plus a GFCI company plug. The hot tub is on a wood surface.
@timw9795 Жыл бұрын
That's considered portable / storable. Not needed

Did I hear they prewired with #8 aluminum? I have never heard of it.
@ZackFletcher12 жыл бұрын
Typical for 30a loads, not a hot tub.

I've never heard of or used aluminum wire smaller than #6. Didn't even know they made #8 aluminum. That's what I found interesting 🤔

I'm in Canada. I am absolutely 'shocked' that all the circuits for your home are outside and accessible to people that may want to cause you problems. Why?
